This popped into my head recently, You all know how wvw pits various servers against one another and npcs call it a mist war between different shards of reality? Is this how it really is and one could say that each one of our servers is another dimension complete with other copies of us or even different rules and say, even different rulers for Kryta like for instance, Lord Caduceus Bettle Stone getting his way?

I don’t talk to the mist war npcs much, but I think they just say that there are invaders. I never got the impression they knew that other servers are other realities/shards of the mist (think fractals, possible timelines).
The whole idea of WvW needs some more clarification, but it’s possible they are alternate realities. The problem with this is that these realities could have conflicting ideas, like Asura dominated the other races, or charr eliminated all the humans. Because of these power struggles, certain player races wouldn’t exist in wvw on those respective servers. Weird to think about…

That would be awesome though. I picture epic one time events, that do really change the look of the server. So different looks for different decisions (no idea how that could be realized with hundreds of players playing the event) and of course, an event can be failed or won and this also would also change the look of the world.

But I also see the different servers in WvW as different realities. That somehow clash together. That would explain, why the borderlands look the same.

In my RP now I have my Ele’s Husband come back to her as another shard’s version of himself as she knows him to be dead in Tarnished Coast. So he could be the Sea of Sorrows (my original server) version of him, where in his shard, she is dead not him. So her life story and his are all reversed roles in this case. Yet I’d still want to see if there is lore evidence that this theory is true, stated in the original post I made.

’ The Mists is the oldest thing in existence, constituting the fabric of time and space that connects the multiverse together. The Mists is the proto-reality that exists between the worlds which in turn are the building blocks of reality. The Mists resonate from the worlds around them, forming bits of their own reality – islands of existence that reflect the histories of their worlds.1 Within the Mists are worlds, each with their own realities and histories, floating as islands in the ether. Some worlds are enormous, such as the Underworld, the home of the dead; others are simply residences for powerful spirits or deities. At the center of the Mists is the Rift, and within the Rift is the Hall of Heroes, the final resting place of powerful and virtuous souls.’

This is what the wiki has to say bout the mysts. Thismeans that lorewise, the pure mechanic behind the myst is yet to be discovered and more likely will never be discovered. Using a mulptiple dimension universe I see the mist as a higher dimension in wich we can get a physical form, but it is actually a more powerfull purer version of ourselfes (if you have reached level 80 the effect is less notable, to most not existing, but if you are lower level, you suddenly become the person you have the potential to become in the real world).

I actually never tried it or checked if it is possible to approach that close, but what happens if we tryto use an enemy-portal? do we get a custom error-message or a generic one? or are we just sent to our own world?

in the end it doesn’t matter. Though we (from a player perspective) know the worldinvaders are actually players from another server. We (from a roleplaying perspective) don’t know that in game. Though the mist is accessable from other worlds and reality’s we dont know bout these worlds. The special form we are granted in the mist prohibits us to talk to these people and the true purpose of the wars in the mists are unknown. So from a lore perspective I see the other worlds as other worlds inaccesable for us and places we know nothing bout. For those saying they are exactly the same I say they could be as wrong as that guy that claimed the earth wasn’t flat but round

(In other words, when it comes to explaining game mechanics from a lore standpoint you get stuck easily. some things you have to except as they are. the devs, maded the mechanics behind the mists obscure and theoraticle cause they dont have a good way to explain it from a lore-perspective. so who am I to try it?)
