Scarlet’s short story has her being born at the Grove. You can even see the same mender that greeted her when she first awoke ingame, Mender Serimon. She then stayed in the Grove for a length of time learning in engineering. This is backed up in Twilight Assault, where Caithe says she met Ceara, Scarlet’s real name, before she took on the new alias, and she wasn’t impressed.

So, unless the writers want to jump through hoops to make it happen, Scarlet is not from an alternate reality.

I’m just here to point this out: Steam creatures were from a possible FUTURE, and since some of the inquest now work for Scarlet, this may be the point in time they were invented and put to use. The alternate you doesn’t look that much older.

Maybe she came from another tree, like that one guy in the sylvan I storyline who came from a different pale tree. This is easily so considering she was once a seed, and there could defiantly be other seeds that rooted down somewhere else.

As said numerous times before in this thread, her short story confirmed she came from the Pale Tree. This is backed up in-game by Caithe, during the Twilight Assault LS. Caithe said she remembered meeting Scarlet while she was still living in the Grove, and she said she wasn’t impressed with what she say.

Scarlet coming from a different dimension or timeline would make her whole story a lot more plausible though.

I liked the ingame cinematic we just got with the new patch, and it did make Scarlet a little less…annoying…but I still have issues with her. She’s just too good at everything, with no reasonable explanation for it.

I see both improvements and negatives in this update for Scarlet’s personality.

On a pro side, she’s mostly gone from crazy eccentric to creepy taunter… until that final cinematic (which btw, anyone else notice how the Baron mentioned Scarlet left before the Hybrid was complete and then… she shows up…?).

And she makes mention of the second chapter of the PS – at least 3 (Malyck, Infinity Ball – both possibly related to her story – and Dead Sister – which isn’t likely related to her story). Makes me worried she’ll become a more Villain Sue and had been watching the PC since the second chapter without us knowing. Just more “she was always there” kitten pulls like the short story…

Kudos to you all for trying to come up with all these stories, but I’m afraid that by the looks of it she was just shoehorned in. It has been said by the devs that some stories were put in place or altered to fit with the releases coming out as the LS teams worked independent from each other.

I’m afraid what you see if what you get in this case, and it aint pretty.

I don’t believe she failed in the current episode. It looks to me that Scarlet got what she wanted before she left, and had no further need of the facilities. Basically, we got there too late.

Steam creatures are very much part of the present and have been since day 1.

After the end of Scarlet’s Funhouse, she could have went to investigate the player(s) past. She did say they were on top of her “list of people that need sharp reminders about how insignificant they really are”. There are always connected npcs to each PS, so it wouldn’t be too hard to at least get some of the details of what happened.

She’s also taunted my charr characters about their dead sires, so she probably has information on everyone’s Chapter 2.

Yeah, the likelihood that she was “around for everyone’s personal stories” is unlikely. It seems more likely that people have been praising our characters since the earliest parts of our story and that because of this she has been able to glean as much information as she needs in order to get at us.

But she met with NPC’s that are in the game, in our world. So either theres a normal Ceara that didnt become Scarlet running around in our dimension (maybe she was never born and died in the Dream) or Scarlet’s, you know, from around here.
