Q:

So, while revisting Orr (Malchor’s Leap and the Straits, specifically) for farming purposes, I’ve been talking with NPCs out of curiosity. And it seems like the Pact NPCs there often sass the PC and totally disregard their ranking in the Pact.

Am I missing something here? If we’re going by the main storyline, by the time the Pact reaches Orr and starts their advances there, the PC should have already been selected as Trahearne’s right-hand.

Any ideas as to why this is the case? It may just be a slight continuity error within the dialogue, which isn’t a major issue considering they’re optional NPCs to talk to.

Do you have any specific examples? It would be easier if we had something concrete to talk about.

For my part, I don’t remember any interactions that came across as insubordinate. A fair bit that was glib, but that only read like an attempt to keep spirits up.

R.I.P., Old Man of Auld Red Wharf. Gone but never forgotten.

Like Aaron, I can’t think of anything that’d go beyond halfhearted jesting for sake of morale, except for that one asura in his hidden jumping puzzle – but at that position, he’d hardly be able to easily identify you (and one person being insubordinate in a stressful warzone is actually rather surprisingly good).

But the lack of denoting the PC’s ranks is one of the apparent complaints ArenaNet got which led to S2’s and HoT’s overcalling us “boss” and “Commander” (even though we hardly take the role of a person in command of a military operation in HoT).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
