So I was just about to start the lvl 80 PS on my guardian, shortly after finishing the lvl 70 PS.

At the end of the lvl 70 PS, you have to find Trahearne. While making your way to the ship, a new objective appears. “Talk to Sayeh”. I had no idea who it was, but according to the conversation I knew the person. Okay fine. This happened before, I’ll ignore it.

NOPE.

Start the lvl 80 PS, and listen to Trahearne speak. After he’s done, he starts telling me about Tonne, his wife’s greif over his death, and how she hates us because he died.

Problem. Who the hell is Tonn? I had no idea. Sooooo… /wiki Tonn. After a bit of confusion to find where he fits in, I find that his story sections were removed from PS in September. So how am I to know who he is? Okay fine… moving…

After proceeding Trahearne introduces me to Sayeh. Wait… what? I thought I already knew her judging by the conversation at the end of the previous PS…

There are a few other instances I cannot recall right now. But if I find more I will speak my mind. I have only just started the lvl 80 PS.

This is a well known, discussed, and documented problem. The main issue is when they changed the way the PS plays out in steps with the New Player Exerience. Before it was a new story step every couple of levels. People thought that this made it too difficult to be able to do, so it was changed.

This is one of the many threads discussing this issue.

In short, before the NPE patch (as it’s referred to) you would be able to start the story at level 2. After you completed that, the next step was at level 5 (can’t remember exactly but you get the idea), then level 7, then 10. Now all those steps have been condenced into one “block” that starts at level 10. Then the next block is level 20, 30, 40, etc. When moving each story step into the blocks, they accidently moved the wrong story step into the wrong block.

They have stated they are looking into this, and working on a fix, but no ETA was given on when to expect it. My guess is that it got pushed back in favor of the Living Story, and other patches.

Primary thread. From said thread:

I inquired about these concerns, and our narrative director shared the following:

Thank you so much for your comments. We realize that the changes that were made have impacted the personal story, and we are working to fix this. This requires a good deal of resources, so we do not have a set date for when these fixes will be implemented. We appreciate your patience and will update with more information as it becomes available.

This topic has over 10 threads about it spread across at least three forums.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I remembered another one. During the lvl 70 questline you fight an Eye of Zaitan and rescue the King. It is mentioned that he is the strongest eye, and that all the other eyes were royalty. The player then states that he had fought the other eyes before. However, that is the first eye fight, and the second is in the lvl 80 questline.

It just occured to me also, that when defending Fort Trinity (lvl 60 quest) You have to protect an orb. Isn’t that the same orb you get during the lvl 70 questline (possibly 80) with Sayeh?

Yeah, the story chapter where you obtain the Orb was cut (it’s the same one where you meet Tonn/Apatia). The Defense of Fort Trinity was supposed to come afterwards, but it got shunted forward thanks to ANet trying to squeeze all the chapters into a silly 8 chapter story.

The thing is, Zaxares, it already was 8 chapters. Chapter 8 was just three times the length of other chapters.

Going off of the PS achievements I’m sure everyone has long forgotten about. :P

Oh. I actually still haven’t completed the PS (I was JUST about to start the Tonn/Apatia/Orb chapter when the NPE hit), so I thought there was 2 more after that; the Source of Orr, and then the final assault against Zhaitan.

Another one. During the lvl 80 questline, I chose to bait one of Zaitan’s eyes. Here I met Tegwyn and some other Sylvari I forget the names of. I figured okay, kind of like an introduction, but then a few missions later, during the first stage of the Vigil plan, they basically repeat what they had said before in the mission, as if they hadn’t told me. Continuity error?

In ‘Steel Tide’ Towards the end, Tactition Beirne creates a cutscene where he saves Crusader Deborah. However. He does not die. Matter of fact, he never went down. The nafter killing the archmage which he antagonized to stop from killing Deborah, another cutscene hits where she’s sad he died and adopts his dog. I literally walked over and talked to him. He didn’t die. Like… what?

That’s probably a bug, not a plot hole.

That last one is a bug as he always died for me.

Or they decided to retcon his death.

Three different plots but based on the old achievements, everything after the Greatest Fear storyline was " Chapter 8". The entire plot group for fighting Zhaitan and his corruption.

They recently took the end sans last and used that to replace the Greatest Fear. A bad move, as player reaction has shown.

I won`t say the PS was perfect by any means,
however I just had my necro reach lvl 70 and “forged the pact” and the next move is meeting Trahearn in Fort Trinity.

It is breaking my immersion totaly. More so, since I have to skip trough several areas, which I would have explored usually.
(okay I wouldn`t have done it, if it if I didn`t knew it already. However since I know the story takes place there, I head there first)

I now have to see if I will meet apathia after Defending Fort Trinity.

I mean, the greatest fear Plotline was one of the few which rewarded replayability. Even though it could anger some people.
Each of the storylines focused on a different part. One goes after the culprit, one after the artifact and i forgot the last one.
However they all had a meaningful role…

Now I have an aditional reason to wiki the blue orb -_-

I never had a chance to do the Apathia storyline. I’m quite annoyed by this >.<
