Hey guys!

I just wanted to ask you, the lore and background professionals of Guild Wars, if there is evidence that we will ever see Cantha in Guild Wars 2?

The tengu and their “closed” city may be connected to this storyline. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dominion_of_Winds

Since i found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHJIVlZNATI a few days ago, A kittenton of memories of the old times came to my mind and i was wondering if we will ever be able to set our feet back to the most beautifull part of Tyria.

What do you think about this?

I would literally cry if our next journey will lead to Cantha. And i pray it won’t be Elona, cause we have seen enough wastes and deserts for now i think.

I think the chances are extremely low for both Cantha and Elona (excluding the Crystal Desert), though the chances of Elona are probably somewhat higher than those of Cantha.

You say the Tengu and their closed city may be connected to Cantha but I’d argue that that is in fact not the case. See, not only did Cantha become xenophobic towards all non-humans (thus they now hate Tengu more than they already did back then) so Cantha was cleansed of non-humans, but the Tengu actually wanted to leave Cantha because they saw Zhaitan’s tidal wave as a sign to go to Tyria and unite the different Tengu groups there.

This xenophobic/dictatorial nature of Cantha also makes it so that they would probably not want us there (including Krytan humans who have pretty strong ties to many non-human races). Besides, there are still Risen and (probably) the Deep Sea Dragon standing between us and Cantha. And we have better things to do than to sail all the way south to Cantha.

I’m sorry, I wouldn’t mind seeing Cantha either.

Edit: Also seeing the rate at which content is added, how long do you think it would take Anet to add an entire continent?

I don’t see how closing or opening the Dominion of Winds leads to Cantha. Tengu were in more places than just Cantha, and in fact the majority of tengu we saw in GW1 were in fact from Tyria – including every tengu we’ve seen in GW2 thus far (being of Caromi, Quetzal, and Avicara).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I dont think we will see Cantha, at least not for a long time. My reasoning? Look at the size of this expansion compared to the size of Cantha. The maguuma is so small, and theres only like 4 maps? Plus the raid one and the Guild Hall ones. I just dont think Gw2 can make something any bigger unless you want to wait, oh I dont know, about 10 years maybe?

Agreed, if we have any chance of revisiting either Elona or Cantha, something at Anet needs to change.

I don’t think it’s impossible.

The Tengu NPCs in lions arch will tell you upon questioning that they were forced out of their original home and that’s partly why they don’t trust the races of tyria.

The devs said a long time ago they would love to expand into other lands if there was an interest in them.

I think….the only thing really stopping us is the elder dragons.

Will gw2 ever expand beyond the stupid dragon plot being its only thing?

ElOna could only come if we overthrow palawa joko to liberate the nation and bolster our own allies.

Palawa is a better villain than the dragons, but that would be an order of whispers and human based expansion, both of which are the least loved by arenanet save for the charr, tybalt.

Cantha is also trickier….even though the zephyrites went there so maybe a piece of glints legacy is there.

I think we may be more likely to see the island of Dawn or parts of Arid(presumably where doern Velasquez is from) than Cantha.
