Possible Other dragon sighting?
I could have sworn that way back I read something about that dragon being located in the Crystal Dessert and that we can actually go inside him as there is a outpost/town inside him. I know, sounds stupid, but i know i read it somewhere ages ago.
That area looks more like the Desolation not the Crystal Desert.

Possibly just a Elder Dragon’s minion? Maybe a minion of Kralkatorrik? Or maybe a different Elder Dragon’s minion? Maybe its a secret Elder Dragon’s minion? Or maybe it’s a minion of Zhaitan? After all, he is the undead Elder Dragon. Or maybe even it will lead us into a new story about Tyria? (Possibly not just the continent, but the entire world!) There are tons of possibilities.

There was a dragon(a former minion of Kralkatorrik) in crystal desert during gw1, maybe its that one?
also the desolation and crystal desert are essentially the same area. seeing as the desolation is just south of what we know as the crystal desert.
And it looks to small to be an elder dragon by itself.
Perhaps this is magumma wastes and that is rotscale?
Most likely a minion of Kraliktorrik, because he had a minion there when he flew across the Crystal Desert, and I am pretty sure it either got killed by an elder dragons minion, or the fire elder dragon itself?

That dragon was supposed to be Zhaitan originally… just compare its look with the various concept art that show him in full dragon form – even in in-game cinematics – and not a crippled, cleaved-in-half, jawless kitten.
And sorry to break it for you folks, but Arah was about 999 billion times more awesome in alpha:
As you can see, the huge dragon corpse taking up one fourth of the map was a dead Zhaitan, its pose perfectly aligning with the pose of the dragon shown in the teaser trailer.
Not for the life of me can I comprehend why they had to cut this majestic model and replace it with that abomination and remove such an incredible content and sight for more rings and circles.

Well maybe they plan to use it if they open up rest of orr as an exploreable map? Like an aftermatch piece before expension?
I was extremely disappointed in the fact that Zhaitan’s body was not anywhere to be found in Arah. It’s ridiculous to think that his whole body exploded on his death (without seeing that in the game itself).

He haven’t exploded, just fell down.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
There is no sign of his body to be found anywhere, and the only things we can find of him are the dungeon reward, Shards of Zhaitan. That makes it seem like he either exploded or was merely splattered to pieces by the tower that dropped down on top of him. Either way, his body is gone.
that is a shame
It was most likely supposed to be the former version of Zhaitan’s corpse – before it got redesigned into its current form. It matches .dat mined maps of Arah, which shows a dragon corpse in it, and it fits with the original Zhaitan concept.
We were also told that Zhaitan’s body would be viewable in Arah explorable. Seeing how it isn’t, and the dragon body was removed from the UI map, it’s likely that Zhaitan’s new corpse never made it into the explorable.
(edit: maps I’m talking about linked by Thal, yay I don’t got to go digging for them!)

You do realize that Zhaitan fell five miles to the east of the furthest reaches of Arah explorable.
Right?
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
No I did not. You can’t easily tell where things are when you haven’t played the explorable. I just know from other players like you that it is not in the dungeon (except for 1 strange picture from a player who fell through the world and found his corpse in there). In the Arah story, figuring out where things are related to below is difficult because of the clouds. I do like the idea, though, that he might appear in an expansion, as a corpse in an explorable zone.

Given the way most people dislike orrian maps in general (and I can’t really blame them for that, seriously it’s getting quite repetitive an environment after a while) I really doubt they plan to expand to new areas in Orr any time soon.
A dragon from Charr Homelands (GW1) maybe?

That spiked ridge is the back of Kralkatorrik. He woke up there and flew south to the Crystal Desert and Glint’s lair, creating the Dragonbrand in the process.
As mentioned above, the dragon in the OP is very likely to be the previous (much more epic) model of Zhaitan.

No, that’s Kralkatorrik, who I’d expect to be surrounded by crystals and not be skeletal.
If that is truly Zhaitan, I’m really disappointed that didn’t make it in as a map.
If you look closely at the screenshot, it shows an opening where you can enter his mouth to explore inside Zhaitan himself. I’m really curious what that is made of? It could possibly explain why the dragons consume magic.
Anyways, they messed this up hardcore in my opinion. I’ll blame time constrains.

Not really. It just shows a gap or something not the color of the rest of his mouth within the mouth. Doesn’t mean we’d be able to enter it at all.

Bah. Either way, it’s a kitten shame Zhai-chan is not anywhere to be found in Arah explorable.!
Zhai-chan
…
I am now mentally picturing a chibi version of Zhaitan. Like that Gwen-chan stuff.
Thanks.

Do you still have acess to that picture? Could you post it please?

It’s in this topic. Player named Wulfghast found and posted it. This is not a real part of the world though. It is a fell through the world and found something interesting picture. I personally hope that Konig’s right about the placement of the tower and that his body may appear in future Orrian content that appears after Zhaitan’s death.
