Problem with Frost and Flame preview:
Tyria ALWAYS had horses. Since Prophecies, horses have been mentioned. Iron Horse Mines, for example. Necrid Horsemen for another example.
Horses are also mentioned to be in Canthan history in An Empire Divided. And don’t forget about the Celestial Horse.
Edge of Destiny also mentions horses in a plain.
For other mentions of the word “horse” in both GW1 and GW2 see:

Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Besides which, it’s one bit of concept art. Not worth leaping to dramatic conclusions over.
Oh no! What a problem! Seriously, that you even took the time to write this thread..
Mad King Thorn had a pony, and Seraphs refer to the centaurs as ponies – just as further evidence they are something that exists in Tyria.
I think horses DID exist in Tyria. We see some of the undead from GW1 on horses. They probably went extinct somehow… or are so incredibly rare that only the insanely wealthy people have them… and keep them locked out of sight from the common rabble.
They may be extinct, but they also seem to at least be sufficiently common knowledge that the average person might make reference to them.
I say this because of the Seraph nickname for centaurs, and because one of the Halloween quests added this year specifically jokes about the fact that your character should know what a pony looks like (it makes sense in context.)
They aren’t extinct – there’s a group of horses featured in Edge of Destiny.
Unless they went extinct over the past five to six years.

There have always been horses in GuildWars. The only reason we don’t see them is that they are hiding for us, afraid that some idiot inmediatly demands to mount them
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
The real reason that there are no horses in GW is because ANet sucks at making good mounts. :p

Because caboose stole them all.

Well maybe it’s like a T-Rex. What kid doesn’t know about T-Rex? Many people make regular references to dinosaurs, and know what they look like from the pictures.
The Charr ate all the horses of Tyria. The biomass required to maintain a strictly carnivorous society must be amazing. I think the Black Citadel may actually be hiding a Soylent factory.
