Q: Militia’s in lore.
We see an example of a militia being trained in Claypool, by the Seraph. Is this a standard practice in Kryta? Would we ever see it extend to other parts of Kryta, or even into Divinity’s Reach?
Other than what we see now, we’ve only ever seen Kryta ruled by White Mantle, who kept a strong hold on the nation (strong enough that Lionguard were only allowed in Lions Arch, and were still disliked by the White Mantle). This changed, however, during the War in Kryta, where you could find Shining Blade training krytans at a camp in Talmark Wilderness.
In terms of current time period, there probably are more militias, but it would be strange for Anet to have a militia training all day every day in every town in Kryta.
I imagine having a militia would be standard practice in villages in Kryta. I think Claypool is the only one we specifically see due to circumstances. Sheamor is on the doorstep of Divinity’s Reach and is such probably watched over by the Seraph from DR. Beetletun has Caudecus’ Ministry Guard in place of militia. While Nebo Terrace and Ascalon Settlement both have their defenders supplemented or replaced by Seraph due to the war.
Claypool of course needing it due to the recent events and in-game we can see that centaurs are literally at the base of their wall.
Militias would be raised in emergencies for a quick response when the military proper cannot be called upon or they are not able to arrive in time.
I wonder if it would be supported in lore that a militia that was raised without such emergency in mind and kept, would that be a lawful move to do?

This is more or less how I see it too. As things currently stand, the centaur war effectively means that there’s a seraph garrison in each major settlement, so militias are largely obsolete, at least for the time being. In times of peace, when the Seraph garrisons would presumably be much reduced, it might be more common- although we don’t have any evidence either way.
