Question About Caithe (Spoilers)
The ones we get come from the Dream but it was my understanding that the Pale Tree knew what they were. So …….. I guess we stand by for plot twist O.o. Good catch.
Yeah, see the FIVE times I have played through the HoT story I never caught that. I just always assumed that the Pale Tree gave it to her sometime post Zhaitan kill.
Hmmm … maybe Mordy planted it in Caithe, so she’d bring the egg further into his territory, but the Boss and his ragtag band intervened and got it into Tarir after all?

I thought that was it (and that our character’s suspicions along those lines are why they treated her like trash), but Taimi’s journal mentions the Hunt like it’s still going on after Mordremoth’s death. I really hope they haven’t written themselves into a corner here.
I don’t read it as Taimi saying the Hunt is ongoing, just that she has a theory about it. Which could very well be “Mordy did it.” Even if she thinks it is ongoing, well, she’s not a sylvari and Caithe isn’t very talky so Taimi could just be wrong there.
The Pale Tree doesn’t give Wyld Hunts nor does she always know what they are. At the end of each chapter 1 storyline for sylvari, the PC say they knew they had to fulfill that Wyld Hunt (protect the White Stag; aid Tiachern; fight Bercilak) and asks if the Pale Tree was why. She responds with:
Avatar of the Tree: No, dear heart. I do not control the Dream. I am simply it’s caretaker.
She outright denies giving out Wyld Hunts.
The Dream gives out the Wyld Hunts, and the Nightmare gives out Dark Hunts. The Pale Tree cannot control either Dream nor Nightmare – she merely acts as caretaker of the Dream, and a bridge between her children and Dream or Nightmare.
No plot hole or upcoming plot twist to see here. At least, not necessarily.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Alright, re-read it. I did jump the gun there.
Addendum:
given that their first (of so far three) Wyld Hunt(s) was to safeguard him and his existence..
Source? I’ve played that plotline through on four separate occasions, and I don’t remember any indication that our player had been feeling a call.

See edited post Aaron, I made a mistake with thinking Malcyk was one of the three Wyld hunts (brain switched Malyck and Bercilak storylines).

I was starting to wonder if the Pale Tree was going to be dying this season, and that Caithe knew something the others didn’t… perhaps that she was the next in line to replace the Pale Tree.
In this seasons he’s still seeming pretty shady though. And I’m sure it’s not just for her to meet up with the pact commander to apologize. There’s a lot of obvious clues that the commander is suspicious of something, and I have no doubt it will add up in the end. I’m just not sure in what direction it’s going to go.
Caithe has always been a stealthy shady individual, which is why so many didn’t like the responses the PC had towards her in S2/HoT – or the sad excuse of “it was my Wyld Hunt” (though they made that excuse much better in this release).
I don’t think a sylvari can replace the Pale Tree tbh. Nor do I see anything about Caithe hiding something or the Commander suspecting her of something – more just continued weariness after the poorly written “Caithe is acting strange even though she does this all the time but I’ve forgotten that she does this all the time!” writing we saw.
