Greetings all,

I wanted to get opinions on which book was packed with the most lore and which one the preferred.

I’ve read the first two, and just opened the new one. Before I started to read I wanted to know which one was their favorite?

Thanks,
Dan

I think Sea of Sorrows was the best in terms of writing and story, followed by a close second of Ghosts of Ascalon with Edge of Destiny faaaar back in third.

By lore, I’d probably go with Sea of Sorrows then Edge of Destiny then Ghosts of Ascalon for which had most to least.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I agree with Konig’s assessment.

However the last book got me thinking…..

Seriously, spoilers if you havent read the book:

What is it with GW2 books and the need to have an asura die heroicly at the end of each of them?

I was thinking exactly the same when I finished reading Sea of Sorrows this week.

Altough it did change my opinion on those little fellahs, Especially Yomm wich is by far my favorite asuran.

On topic, I would say Sea of Sorrows has made the biggest impact on me. the other 2 books took me a while to finish. I couldn’t stop reading Sea of Sorrows.

I would have to say its to increase the “like” rating of Asura. I’ve found that it is by far the most disliked race in the game and story. I’ve asked plenty of people, my friends, family, and random people in-game, and they almost always say that the Asura are their least favorite. For various reasons of course but the fact remains, as far as I’ve found, that the Asura are veritably unpopular. The heroic death of someone you may have hated to begin with could easily change your outlook on them. Especially if it was to save someone you actually cared about. (Ex, Snape from Harry Potter, Yomm/Snaff/Macha.)

Personally I really enjoyed all of them. Sea of Sorrows had the most story to it, Destiny’s Edge had the most relevant information in it, Ghosts of Ascalon had the most back story and lore to it. As far as enjoyment I would probably put them in the same order of SoS, DE, GoA.

I really enjoyed Sea of Sorrows. It’s a pretty interesting story and there’s a lot of lore for Lions Arch and the ways its run, which really gives you a better understanding and appreciation for the city. It’s pretty relevant with the current election going on there too.

Ghosts of Ascalon gives a lot of insight into Ascalon (surprise, surprise) and the relationship between the humans and charr, and it was generally pretty enjoyable.

Edge of Destiny is perhaps the most relevant, as the events directly tie into the main plot of GW2 and it gives a lot of backstory to some of the core characters.. However, it’s pretty poorly written and leaves you with a pretty poor impression of the main character.
