How many elder dragons need to die before the Tengu stop afking in Dominion of Winds?

The only thing that can motivate/force them to join the fight is if something terrible happens to their sanctuary. Maybe the Deep Sea dragon will cause trouble for them? I still remember that giant Hydra wallpaper we had before HoT was released. Could be an attack on them?

I remember seeing some Tengu in Auric Basin near Tarir. Something about a vault, but I can’t recall if it ever had a meaning later.

Maybe the Tengu have a solution to the current Anomaly problem we are facing right now and they become important in LS3…

None of these have an answer yet, I know. I just want to see what people thing of Tengu right now.

  • Can’t answer this one :P

Maybe the Deep Sea dragon will cause trouble for them?

  • The Elder Dragon who has shown the most activity around/near/in the Dominion of Winds is Primordus with his Destroyers. It’s likely this will be the trigger. (if anything.)

I remember seeing some Tengu in Auric Basin near Tarir.

  • Tengu are funny in that they live int tribes, the Tengu you meet in Auric Basin are Quetzal, the Tengu in the Dominion of Winds are most likely Angchu Tengu which originally came from Cantha under leadership of Talon Silverwing. The Quetzal and Angchu likely have even less contact than the Central Tyrian humans have with well.. the Canthans for example.

Maybe the Tengu have a solution to the current Anomaly problem we are facing right now and they become important in LS3…

  • Possible but nothing suggests they could have any knowledge on Ley-lines and their anomalies.

None of these have an answer yet, I know. I just want to see what people thing of Tengu right now.

  • Oh, I likely should have read this first… anyhow… yea.

Nothing funny about it.

However, in the Dominion of Winds we know there are Angchu (Canthan), Avicara (Southern Shiverpeaks), and Caromi (Krytan) tengu as well as tribes from across the world including Elona that we haven’t previously met.

The Quetzal may also be from the Dominion of Winds – they’ve set up three camps in Auric Basin, but they were originally inhabiting the land between Rata Sum and The Grove (south of Metrica Province). However, a curious note is the line “We are not so easily fooled.” put on a S2 ascended trinket. Could just be that Quetzal are even more skeptical of others than the other tengu, to the point of not trusting other tengu.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

And why exactly aren’t they joining the fight? If the whole known world is in danger? Was there any reason other than “We are not under attack in Dominion of Winds so we are cool with Elder Dragons.”

Is it known if Mordremoths influenced reached the Dominion of Winds or are ley lines going haywire there as well?

Apparently, it’s just not their way. There’re hints that they may have survived a previous rise, so it’s possible their approach isn’t as self-destructive as it seems.

My impression is that the Quetzal have remained separate. They also seem to stick to high places – it’s possible that they’re present elsewhere, but we can’t reach where they are.

Regarding the Dominion of Winds – I think their unwillingness to help is also largely based on mistrust – they’re worried that if they start interacting with other races more, they’ll open themselves up for betrayal.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

Not just betrayal. Here’s an important line from the wiki entry on the Tengu:

When further human settlement of the island put Angchu hatchlings in contact with foreign diseases, the tengu were forced to kill their own young and they, too, joined the fight against the humans.

Right there you see a real reason for them to keep other races, and even “lapsed” tengu, out of their area and limit contact.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
