So with the release of the new champion weapons I’d like everyone to not the huge resemblance between the new Razah’s Nightmare torch and the Fate of Menzies torch from the mystic forge.

This seems like it indicates a connection between Razah and Menzies wither dealing with Razah’s creation in the Mists or Menzies defeat (which potentially occurred during the interlude between GW1 & GW2?)

I don’t think that two weapons named after important characters from GW1, automatically means that they belonged to those characters, nor that a similar design indicates a connection between the two characters.

@Malafide: I’d say that in cases like the Fate of Menzies. But in cases like Bonetti’s Rapier, I’d disagree.

Anyways, in regards to a possible connection… I think the only connection there is would be that both hold ties/resided at some point within the Realm of Torment.

I do not think that Menzies has been defeated. The Fate of Menzies is far from sufficient proof to truly suspect such since it could be something as simple as “a representation Balthazar’s intended fate for Menzies – his head on a pike!”

And about the skin similarity – every single new weapon is just a reskin of a previous weapon – or in the case of Entropy and Bonetti’s Rapier, a weapon of a previously-unavailable weapon skin.

what about crystal guardian I can’t remember seeing it in the game until queens jubilee. but yes most of the skin just have different colors.

I think ArenaNet likes to do such kinda small eastereggs.
There is also a focus called Adam which looks like a skull. Eve, a necromancer from GW1, had a skull as focus and called him Adam.
