I keep seeing references to Queen Jennah being the last of the royal line, possibly even the last decendant of King Doric, but I can’t help wondering how accurate that really is.

Particularly given these quotes from Watchman Arad in GW1 during the two quests where you identify Salma as a descendant of the previous Krytan king:
“The Royals, however, were known for their…er…indiscretions, and it is likely that there are a few with royal blood in their veins who still live in Kryta.” and “the king often visited one of the priestesses in the Temple of the Ages. Later, the woman gave birth to a daughter named Salma, who was granted special dispensation from the royal treasury. The king always did take good care of his children, legitimate or not.”

Of course we don’t know what happened to these other children or their descendants. For all we know they were all Chosen and killed by the Mursaat. But it also seems unlikely that for 250 years the royal family were all single children. There must be cousins, or second cousins, or 3rd cousins twice removed who actually have just as much royal blood as Jennah out there somewhere.

I could accept that no one knows who they are, except that we’ve got groups like the Priory who make a point of recording and/or recovering history and throughout real-world history monarchies have tended to attract fans who like to keep track of every little detail, much like other celebrities today. (As anyone who had the misfortune to read the “interesting” newspaper articles that were everywhere, and not even just in the UK, around Price William and Kate Middletons wedding can tell you.)

So, what do you think? What have I missed?

Allow me to correct what you’ve heard: Queen Jennah is the last KNOWN descendant of Queen Salma and is the last known individual of Krytan royalty.

The statements of her being the last known descendant of King Doric was before we knew that Commander Wade Sammuelsson was a descendent of Ascalonian royalty. Though not Krytan royalty.

I don’t know where you’re seeing these references, but there’s likely an implied “known” somewhere in there. Considering how royalty in such settings are, there’s likely a lot of royal-blood individuals out there. They just don’t know it – or can’t claim their heritage due to illegitimacy (depending on how Krytan/Ascalonian claims on heritage works in regards to nobility).

There is a part in the 20-30 chapter of the human story where your meeting the reps of the orders to discuss a threat to Jennah and the priory guy makes a comment about her being the last heir of Doric. Interestingly the whisper guy says something along the lines of ‘that may not be entirely accurate’.

Personally Im wondering if there is anything particularly special about Doric’s line or if its just about having an unbroken royal bloodline. Originally, I thought that Doric’s connection to the bloodstones may link his heirs to the bloodstones but that no longer is likely.

King Doric was the first king of Tyria, and all royalty of the three kingdoms are of his bloodline. So it’s more a case of having a tie to the first king.
