So I was mapping with an Alt today and I stumbled across Saul D’Alessio’s tomb. I had completely forgotten it was there. After doing the event and finding out that the tomb was empty, I went to the wikki hoping to find out more about what had happened there. I fint his story and the origin of the Mantle a compelling story. Anyway before I get side tracked, is there any other information on what happened to him? Did he really die? Was he ever in that tomb? In the Bonus Mission pack for GW1 you don’t see him die,(if I’m remember this correctly.) just his screams as the Mursaat close in around him. Is there another resting site for him? Or is this just another question left over from GW1 that we will never get answered.

We know that originally the white mantle (or was it the Mursaat?) were to have a bigger role in the initial release of GW2. There are also hints that the current story is moving towards us finding out more about the white mantle and coming accross Mursaat ruins at some point. So it is possible that we will find out more about Saul then.

Yeah after the orphan option of the PS and CM, I’ve been eager for more on the Mantle. I can see why people who have not played GW1 could not care less about them. I for one await it with eagerness.

All we know about Saul is that he was taken by the mursaat. The surviving White Mantle (all three of them) claimed that he was killed by the charr in the suicide mission. Beyond that, it’s a mystery.

@Diovid: All that was said was that there were “cool plans” for the mursaat. For all we, the players, know this was in reference to the War in Kryta. In which case, comment fulfilled because a lot of players thought it was cool (at least the first half – but I suspect it was due to content deprivation).

Yeah, the only 3 White Mantle who knew what really happened to Saul D’Alessio were Confessor Dorian, Justiciar Hablion and one other guy whose name escapes me at the moment. They kept the secret to themselves and claimed that Saul had perished in the attack on the Charr camp. The event in Harathi Hinterlands with the zealous White Mantle ghost guarding Saul’s “tomb” might give new players the impression that somebody had looted/desecrate the tomb at some point, but the truth is that Saul’s body was never buried there to begin with. The ghost had been guarding an empty tomb all along.

Wasn`t that the tomb, where the Sttue of Dwayna is and if you kneel before her, you awoke an apostle?
