Scarlet's Objective?
The glowing ball was not something to destroy the plant, but a “key” to destroy a barrier.
The “forging” was just a way to gan some time.
in fact, the whole process is out of pace.
Basicly it takes place right after we defeated the toxic husk.
A defensive wall comes up and we look around to find a way to get through there.
We find one of Scarlets laboratory and like Majory mentiones: Scarlet has a twisted mind.
As we solve her riddles (or force our way through) we discover some things about her “thinking”, however in the end, we create a key for that barrier.
Basicly: You have to solve these “me” (scarlet) related riddles, so you can continue your task, as i am away doing my thing.
The anti-toxin from Mayorie killed the plant in the end.
The whole segment was basicly just exposition and some more clues for us to piece together. No dragon.
Though she appearently created a living beeing.
But that’s the question I have, why give us the components to break the barrier that would allow us to kill the big toxic plant? Are we playing into her hand? Apparently she wanted this to happen?
Never try to figure out a nut case. It will hurt your head, a lot.

She finieshed what she wanted and went off to put her next chess piece in place.
What we found was a leftover laboratory, where she has conducted some research.
The barrier was a safety mechanism. However as Scarlet left, she did not care about what happens to the place, thus allowing us to get “her” key to the barrier.
(if you have a world destroying device, always have a safety in place. at least Scarlet is reasonable there. Build a impentrable barrier and a way to shut it down. simple as that)
basicly she did not hand it to us, she just did not care if we find it.
But that’s the question I have, why give us the components to break the barrier that would allow us to kill the big toxic plant? Are we playing into her hand? Apparently she wanted this to happen?
The things that can make something can more often than not be used to break that something.
I believe that is what the case is here.
Alternatively, it is what Jaken said.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
If Scarlet was going to let the Toxic alliance dissolve, because she’d got what she wanted and didn’t want to deliver anything else to the krait, then it makes sense for her to leave behind a method to destroy the tower. I’m guessing however that she’ll have the toxic troops at her disposal regardless and she’s just been a crazy nemesis again.
Someone in Kessex Hills does say now that Scarlet took a plant or flower or whatever from the top of the tower before she vanished through her portal. This NPC must have really good eyesight since I don’t remember anyone else noticing this when it happened!
They didn’t say what she took, just that something was taken.
Actually after you complete the instance they mention outside that Scarlet took some toxic with her.
They guess that it was the toxin. It’s just a guess.
