Any lore behind them? Seems they have none.

It’s clear they’re karka-related, in some way. Maybe a future plot around Southsun Cove?

i kinda hope not because I’d love to see the living story go far away from southsun and LA in general.

I have a feeling that we’ll see a return to the nature of the Sclerite weapons and backpacks when we get more into the plot of the deep sea dragon. I don’t see much reason to go back to Southsun or these things otherwise.
