So I was leveling my Elementalist today all around Ascalon and asked myself : What happened to all those post-Searing big crystals, spreaded all around Ascalon from GW1? I know that some remained, but most dissapeared. Any thoughts what had happened to them?
They pretty much all were destroyed by charr or decayed naturally, minus the largest ones in game. Stated by several charr in ascalon.
There are 2 or 3 still around, the larger ones.
Where did you think all the crafting dusts came from?
=P
Actually since the one crystal in Ashford plains has an inscription saying that the crystals dont seem to tarnish or decay, i would think the smaller ones probably sank in the now newly vitalised soil or were burried by dust and debris of 250 years.
Or, as one stated, were taken out by charr technology in order to level out the ground and make moving seige engines faster.
I believe there’s a few NPCs stating that the charr cleared most of them out. Like Narcemus said, probably to level out the ground – they’re tearing down the Great Wall in Iron Marches for that reason as well.
I know for a fact that there’s still one around in Blazeridge Steppes. There’s a skill point on it.
Yes, that one was the biggest crystal in Pockmark Flats. Another of the larger ones is still around in the Plains of Ashford not far from the statue of Balthazar. I think those are the only two remaining, but my memory isn’t the best. But I would note that those two are not in the way of taking charr siege down towards Ebonhawke, which is probably why they aren’t gone.
