Seasons in Tyria.
Difficulty aside, I don’t think they will solely due to aesthetics. The early fall look is iconic to Ascalon, and a large part of what makes the Shiverpeaks distinct is that they are the only place we see snow- and on top of that, people will be unhappy if a third of the game was switched to a primarily white and gray palate.
Perhaps, but I say do it if they have the capability.

The look is iconic to Ascalon because that’s all we’ve ever seen it as. Similarly with the Shiverpeaks if we had rolling seasons it would snow more places.

Sea of Sorrows, a server never before so appropriately named.
Yes, that’s my point. To change that would be to compromise environmental themes they’ve been fine-tuning since GW1 launched, and greatly detract from the uniqueness and distinctness of these different regions.

That’s bc they lacked the ability to have rolling season in GW1. Perhaps they do have that ability now and if they did it might help to apply it. They can still be unique they just have to make more than one way for a zone to be unique, why would that be a bad thing? This would be new for MMOs and pushing the gene along is what they want to do.
it annoyed me last christmas the snow in lions arch was fake being sprayed by floating golems, in gw1 it was just normal snow and felt like it was just winter time

In Guild Wars 1 it was made very clear that the snow in Lion’s Arch was very heavily influenced by Grenth’s appearance. In GW2, Grenth is not around to bring the snow. I think it is also stated around Wintersday that having snow in Ascalon City is a very rare thing. Just a few points of dialogue available.
Most of the game would experience lower temperatures, but frozen lakes and snow-covered plains would not poof over Tyria. Some of Kryta and maybe the northernmost bits of Ascalon maybe, but
Anet doesn’t really have a reason to not put seasons in once they have the time to do so.
If leaves are changing color in Ascalon, snow is an option. Ascalon is a temperate climate, judging by how it looks and the kinds of plants there. Kryta is more Mediterranean, so I wouldn’t expect it there.

^ There’s a dialogue in one of the Ash camps in Fireheart that indicates that Ascalon can be completely covered in snow for the duration of winter. Seeing as northern Ascalon is largely volcanic/Flame wastes, that’s the only place I wouldn’t expect snow.
Also, another case of saying ‘winter’ instead of the proper ’Season of the Colossus"…
Well, season of colossus could very well just be a human tradition that had no reason to pass on to the other races.
The other races adopted the years and dates. Why only adopt part of a calender?
Not certain. Just pointing out a possibility.
When anyone here says “It’s football season!” we all know it’s Autumn as well.
Football fever is a tradition that happens during a nature season(Autumn). They call it a “football season” because it mimics the time and duration of an actual season.
In Tyria of olde, the humans held all the nomenclature cards…so to speak. Now, the other races probably should have their own names for the seasons that reflect their own cultural identity. Different names of the same thing, but a Norn calling Winter by it’s Norn name would make sense, for isntance. There’s no reason other races can’t develop their own way of saying things.
I would argue it would have been a lot cooler had ANet actually invented different season names for the races. But instead, not only did we lose the old human way of saying it, but now it’s just the same names as our real-life seasons. :/
And then there’s that whole 360 days in a year thing. Or is it 365 now…
I troll because I care
Ascalon is pretty temperate, so we could see some seasonal changes there and in the Southern Shiverpeaks, but the Tarnished Coast and Kryta are all jungle (and former jungle). They’re rockin some warm sea wind that I’d expect to keep them snow-free year-round. Though, that’s definitely not to say seasons shouldn’t be implemented; on the contrary, this would make it easier to do.
