So, ANET... About Taimi.
She knows Braham from the Twisted Marionette event. Nothing more, given the dialogue. Keep in mind that the instance happens after the Marionette’s beaten (though you don’t have to actually beat it). So all five met up there then went to LA.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
“I am calling it right now, she is from the future. She knows Braham (and well, mind you) but he does not yet know her. She knows a lot about scarlet, and wants to learn from her. Her golem is more advanced than any golem we have seen, even mr sparkles.
In a world where we have already made a machine that opens doorways into other realities, having someone make a time machine is not out of order.”
“And her name is ‘Time-y.’ "
-A theory from Reddit.
I also found it rather strange she just popped up out of nowhere without any background story.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Apparently she’s been at the Marionette-event in hopes to meet Scarlet, overheard Braham’s name from Rox and then just tagged along. Probably in hopes of meeting Scarlet if she sticks with the band I suppose…
From the interview we also know that she’s Zojja’s pupil and she claims to have studied Scarlet for months.
So yeah, her implementation was kinda “wut?”. I really hope Anet is gonna handle this Asura with more care than the others.
Last I wanna see is Taimi turning into another Asura-deus-ex-machina and happening to have invented exactly what we need to fight Scarlet during her off-screen studies.

you all know ANet has a kitten for murdering asuras. she won’t be around for long.
By the law of “no big-impact ambiguous moral actions in GW2”, Objection!
Kinda. They’d prolly kill her if she wasn’t a child. :P lolwat

they’re going for the CoD audience! killing children is deep and emotional (according to the MW3 devs, apparently)

No, really. Dwayna’s gonna need to save them from this flamethrower I’m sporting.
-Ignites all the little children on fire mwuahahahaha! Have nonsensical nightmares over a boy you don’t even know now!-

she’s too busy chitchating with her new BFF Kormir to save the kids. they have soooooo much to catch up, it feels like it’ll take them hundreds of years!
It also means a ‘young tree’ or sapling. Could be a coincidence but she is trying to learn from Scarlet….who isn’t so far from being a tree herself.
You know, I’m almost inclined to spare Taimi because of her age. Then she starts talking about joining up with Scarlet and I feel it’s my duty to nip this briar in the bud before it starts.
Someone get me the Secret Catapult Plans and some supply to build it. I wonder if I can get a headshot on the marionette.

Without question, Scarlet’s a compelling character, though not exactly the kind you’d expect to inspire hero worship. Or is she? Johanson also revealed that The Origins of Madness will introduce us to a new character, an Asura prodigy named Taimi who’s unhealthily obsessed with Scarlet. The young Asura’s the ward of well-known golemancer Zojja, and as such, has a way with golems. Actually, she rides one, which is a convenient way to follow Scarlet around Tyria and show up in the Shiverpeaks just in time for the fireworks to begin. It should be interesting, seeing how much trouble Zojja’s ward can get herself into, and what Zojja ends up doing about it…
I regret Vorpp, who was older and could have participated in the fighting and become a hero Asura very consistent.
And I do not send small children fighting …
and what Zojja ends up doing about it…
A healthy dose of shouting and condescending remarks no doubt
~Sincerely, Scissors
it’ll be interesting to see zojja again, she’s been MiA since the end of the personal story.
Yes, I’d like to see Zojja again too.
. . . my sights need aligning.
I assume you’re gonna post some short story about her? I mean I’m surprised you just have her suddenly pops up outta nowhere during the Living World and (kinda) knows Braham without any back story. Cool that she rides on her golemn’s shoulder (It’d be even cooler and cuter if she rode on Braham’s).
When she was younger she probably did. She probly got into trouble and she probably cause Braham to get a concussion which is why he forgot her. Norn are know for their hard headedness after all.

Braham didn’t forget her. Taimi is running a game on Logan. It’s obvious in all her mannerisms she is blatantly being manipulative to get what she wants. Which is to “meet” Scarlet.

If you talk to Taimi as an Asura you get a dialogue option asking if Zojja knows she’s here…. Which I thought was weird but if she is a pupil of Zojja that makes sense sorta….

My thought as well, she’s clearly manipulating Logan (who falls for it, probably thinking too much about Queen Jennah to notice).
I don’t know I like it her (although she’s only had a couple of lines of conversation) smart, self confident but less arrogant than the average Asura. Seems she and Braham might become an adventuring duo, now that it seems Rox is leaving (poor Braham he seems sad about it). Or she might turn evil… ArenaNet has yet to show us they can handle a villain properly (in my opinion Zhaitan and Scarlett didn’t really do it for me) so yeah I’d rather prefer her to remain on the good guys side, preferably in the grey area.

Or just is blinded by “little young kid isn’t going to do that”, clearly not familiar with how evil the asura are.

We prefer the term “morally flexible”.
As for Taimi’s role, we’ll probably see her filling the practical (ever so slightly demented) techno-wiz of the group. Since Zojja is busy doing… something, hopefully Pact and DE related, Taimi is going to be the only one on hand with any possible understanding of Scarlet’s technology.
For whatever reason wouldn’t let me quote that post earlier in this thread about a theory calling out time travel, but I’m going with another theory from reddit, That she’s Omadd’s daughter. Would explain the fanatical fascination with Scarlet in a myriad of ways. If its been said before or dis-proven already, I’ll retract, but she is an orphan and Omadd, well, we know what happened there.

But asura don’t have a relationship with their parents like humans or norn do, instead asura develop a similar relationship with their mentor, IE Zojja and Snaff and even that’s not a guaranteed thing.
I’m pretty sure Taimi just likes scarlet because, as she said, “she’s a genius!” It’s pretty simple really. Anet did say she was an Orphan though so I mean I guess Omadd could be her father.

as long as you leave my sexy salad people in peace, you can kill those oversized rats (come on, why did you think they named their city rata sum?) for all i care.

Well of course not
We already know time travel is possible from the Asura personal story about the Infinity Ball.

No, I’m more fascinated with charr hide rugs. A genuine Ascalonian product since Pre-Searing days, guaranteed to be flea-free and with fur soft to the touch. You just want to take all Kasmeer’s clothes off and let her lay on it.
I’m also fascinated with the potential application of asuran intelligence towards improving the aerodynamics of siege equipment ammunition.

you still speak pretty highly of charr fur.

It’s true, Rox is the lovechild from my ex, which explains those eyes.
Though in a slightly more serious tone. If you weren’t around for Prophecies, charr hides were one of the more notable ways to get Fur Squares. Hence, it’s something I just stole and ran away with Sort of like how in one month I had fifteen UW runs and not one Ectoplasm drop assigned to me. Then I go for the black widow spider and suddenly I have Ectoplasm.

There is a collector who trades charr hides for Fur Squares put in after Expert Salvages weren’t getting fur fast enough.

I suspect she’s an engineer. She seems really interested in Scarlet and her research and when I talked to Taimi on my asuran engineer she had special slightly different dialogue than my other characters.

i’m pretty sure we have never had any instance where profession determines dialogue. the different dialogue might have been because you’re asura (i know for a fact she talks to humans and asuras differently during the LA instance).
and i’m not sure if engineer is the proper term. she’s a golemancer (which can be argued is a specialization of asuran engineering), which as far as i know, can’t be translated into an in-game profession.

she’s a “next generation” golemancer. she pilots her own golems as a battle suit. so… it’s even more different from necromancy than it used to be.
Hey Zoija, I met these really cool people in Lion’s Arch and I’m going to form an adventuring group with them. I know they’ll really look after me as there’s this big Norn who takes after his mother, a couple who really love each other, and people like Rytlock and Logan are giving them lots of advice. If we follow Scarlet we might be able to see the genius in her mind and …. Zoija, Zoija, tell Mr Sparkles not to lock me in the cupboard please Zoija please?
A story would be good:) Better yet, has anyone noticed her golem sounds like one of those turrets from Portal ? :P
