So Primordus CAN corrupt living beings?
Primordus likely can but so far has chosen not to.
Though this is debatable as each elder dragon has different methods of corruption.
It’s possible that Primordus lacks the ability to properly infused living beings successfully, as his molten powers could be too intense. Recall that the other dragons have methods of infusion that wouldn’t normally destroy the body. For example, icebrood through exposure and accumulation of corrupt ice and Branded through being sprayed by crystal infused breath.
In this theory, the charr might have been successfully corrupted through the artificial transfusion.
As Bard says, Primordus likely can, just chooses not to – similarly, Zhaitan can but chooses not to. Dragon energies can seemingly corrupt anything but sylvari and forgotten magic, or Grenth-related stuff (statues of Grenth and the temple of Grenth in Orr are said to be resisting dragon corruption).
That area in Crucible of Eternity is hard to pin. I’ve seen a charr turned into an Icebrood Kodan and a human into a Branded Charr in that very chamber.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Zhatian still must construct beings from existing organic material, however.
Also, the Charr into Kodan icebrood and vice versa is likely a bad choice in model recycling.
I think he can corrupt living things. In the helping skritt storyline we come across a bunch of "shiny" destroyer eggs.
Tybalt says something along the lines of corrupted creatures being unable to reproduce, but thinks that in this case we just came across a creature that was already pregnant when it was corrupted. So it sounds to me like Primordus can corrupt living things just like the others.
Those destroyer “eggs” hatch full grown crabs and trolls, spawned by the Destroyer Queen.
All three mentors present the same two possibilities: a living creature who was corrupted when pregnant (the situation with all the “reproducing” risen in Orr – the spiders, drakes, and chickens), or alternatively a new type of destroyer who can create more of its kind. All champions can produce more of its kind for destroyers (Destroyer of Life, The Great Destroyer, for examples). The Destroyer Queen is just one of these – and it uses a new method of spawning destroyers.
Those destroyer “eggs” appear more like mobile spawning pools – in Edge of Destiny and Eye of the North, we see champions over pools of lava that spawn destroyers. In the novel, their spawning is described as slowly congealing rock and lava into forms (not verbatim). These “eggs” are probably doing the same, but in a mobile form – allowing destroyers to be created away from pools of lava.
Nothing but the plausible thoughts of the mentor hints to those being literal eggs laid by a pregnant corrupted giant crab. While most spawned destroyers are indeed crablings, there are, as said, adult crabs and iirc, trolls and harpies that also spawn from these eggs. Last time I checked, a crab can’t give birth to a fully-grown crab, let alone to trolls and harpies.
