So.... another month till living world
This belong more in the LW Discussion than the Lore and Story, but I’m probably going to take a break from the game for a bit and wait for prices to drop in the TP.
true but in my opinion living story and lore are kinda the same
(i understand why they are separate (mechanics and stuff))
yea i love gw2 and want to play it as much as i can but there is not really much left for me to do
I went back to GW1 shortly before Dragon’s Reach pt. 2. With this news, I’ll probably be sticking there for a while… maybe finally get a few more HoM points.
what did you do/plan to do in the 2 months we wernt getting any updates?
There will probably be a Halloween update, but I just plan on playing other games. October has a lot of good game releases and I’m still wading through Divinity Original Sin. To tell you the truth I can’t play GW 2 like I did before, it just bores me with its grind and insistence on making the open world a series of random events popping up, rather than making them have any exciting effects on the world. When they said they were adding a new zone I was hoping the events there would tell better stories and have interesting cause and effect mechanics, but no they are mostly run on timers and outcome doesn’t affect the world all to much (just the rewards).
just curious as to why we have so many breaks.
One of the major criticisms of Season 1 of the Living story is it was fragmented and gave a piddling amount of story progression during each update. The schedule was blamed by the players and I think Arena Net realized it wasn’t helping them either. Hence, they abandoned the two-week cadence for Living World updates and now bring them in blocks so they can better polish them. I still feel like they need more polish, more content updates, and more focus on the vast array of unfinished stories 1 around the world; but they have improved with this schedule.
1 – Charr-Human treaty for one. It’d be nice if they updated and expanded on the event chains all around the world that have these stories that should have progressed by now.
To be honest, I think they’ll need that time to clean up the fallout and smooth over ruffled feathers from the latest Feature Patch.
Me? I’m going to use the time to do WvW Fall Tourney, continue my (slow) world mapping, and work on the new Collections.
It’s truly a pity that the break couldn’t have happened from Nov-Dec though. I’m sure myself, a portion of the playerbase, and a good number of devs would have liked a couple of months alone with DA:I when it comes out.
Well, I am doing a bit of WvW while I wait with the tournament and all that. And with the current issues present with the rearrangement of the Personal Story, I am going back to map completion with my main necromancer until it has been fixed.
I did the week’s WvW achievement in 30 minutes. Felt no real need to continue doing that. So for the most part I’m playing other games or dailies if I’m up to it. Until Friday!
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
I think im starting to understand what they are doing.I mean i noticed it earlier bt this really just screams it.
it seems like they dont want to have more than one thing happening in the game at a time, which in my opinion is to there detriment.
i think they should have consistent holidays (regardless of what happens with LW or wvw or pvp or w/e) this would make the world feel alive i think
right now it feels like we are just playing tiny bits of periodic content.
not so much a living world
i mean i dont mind my hour of story every two weeks (id love more but happy im get this much ^^) but after that it feels kinda empty it feels like the worlds on pause again
festivals and they like would be a great way to pad us thought the waits (especially with these “breaks” that the keep springing on us)
keep the world moving- but allow us to go back (ultimately this is what I (and i think alot of others) want)
I’ve always got plenty of stuff to do when LW isn’t running. Map completions, a few achievements here and there, jumping puzzles for fun, various small farming things for a bit of money, whatever. I actually enjoy having downtime to just do what I want and not feel pressured to jump on the next LS train.
My current goal right now is to unlock all my Grandmaster traits for all my characters. Which, yes, I still haven’t done on most of my characters even though they were added last feature patch. Mostly because I never plan on using half of them anyway, but I figure I’d like to unlock them anyway just in case (and for completion’ sake).
While also keeping an eye on LFG for high-tier Dry Tops, because I still have about 3 Ambrite weapons I want to craft, have 2 of the fossils already, mostly need geodes to get the weapon recipes.

see i dunno to me that sounds like bits and peices
“Mostly because I never plan on using half of them anyway” -this just makes it seem like your playing for the sake of it now (not saying you do)
to me a game gets you intrigued, it has to have a hook.
guild wars 2 has a hook every 2 weeks for 5 patches then 2 month break of nothing.
i dunno i just feel like more could be done…
( i understand theres feature patch ect but that shouldnt need to stop living world imo)
dont get me wrong i dont mind if the staff have time off, but surely like most other companies you either all have it at once or individually when you request it.
not trying to attack the staff either.
i just wanna know what happens in this time off ( i assume you still have the same living world team structure?)
… i guess i just wanna know more and understand their development times
right now it just seems like u have alot of time off (which im sure you dont)
I’m just role playing for now and my characters are preparing for the next call for action and actually wondering themselves when the Pact is going to go west and destroy those bandits blocking access to maguuma.
My elementist, Yumiko, is really looking forward to burning more bandits to ashes. She can’t wait for every moment that she goes out and kills bandits in Queensdale to get her fix.
You know you get so excited you could pee yourself? Yeah she is at that point.

your ele is scary … sounds like the ralph wiggum of guild wars 2
“A leprichon tells me to burn things”
- Ralph Wiggum
If you knew her back story, you’d see why she is so hostile to bandit kind.
