You’ve been warned about spoilers in the .00001% chance that this is correct.

I think the multi-headed jungle worm could actually be Mordremoth, the jungle dragon. It is said to be super massive, and was basically dormant underground which is very dragony. Zhaitan also had many extra appendages, and several of them were smaller heads. Would that make you more or less excited? Since the new worm fight is permanent, it would obviously mean keeping it underground a lot longer, but that is the only strike against it I can think of.

My theory is that the “wurms” we are seeing are just it’s mouths or limbs or something, and since one player discovered the probe in Lion’s Arch, I expect that when it finally reveals itself, it would be enormous, as in as big as Kalros, the thresher maw big momma in Mass Effect 3. Your theory is similar to mine and I think yours has a stronger possibility. So maybe Scarlett designed the Twisted Marionette to kill it, with its weakness being pure aether blasts. If that would happen, I wonder what weapon would it use? Marionette’s dagger seems too puny if you ask me.

I don’t think that it is Mordremoth itself, but I do think it is very likely that it is one of his champions.

Ooooooohhhh, I hadn’t thought of Scarlet using the marionette weapon against the Wurm/possible Mordy. That makes sense if 1. the Pale Tree itself is a jungle dragon champion like people have speculated (very powerful, spawning minions immune to other dragons, not the only one of its kind, arrived as dragons were waking, and possibly converted to good by Ronin & Ventauri influence) and 2. Scarlet, wanting to break free of controlling forces, may go above the tree if she knows it’s not the top of the chain.

I think this would also work if the Wurm really is a champion, she could be trying to eliminate all champions to draw out Mordy.

I also think real weapon is the fail mechanism that kills us against marionette. The marionette itself could be like bait or some physical component to grapple with a giant creature within the sights of those lasers.

One thing that is interesting, is that Scarlet has been gathering all these various elements up to this point:

Flame Legion and Dredge → Fire/Steam/Drilling Technology
Krait and Nightmare Court → Plants/poison/Hallucinogenics
Aetherblades → Lightning/Air/Flying Technology
Clockwork Guardians → Private army

And before that:

Metallurgy from Beigarth the Smith
Firearms and artillery from Gladium Asagai
Dynamics and Statics + College of Synergetics at Rata Sum, from Omadd
Dragon and chaos energy studies at Thaumanova, with the Inquest
Alchemy from the hylek

And it was also finally Omadd that made her see the Eternal Alchemy, and caused her transformation from Ceara into Scarlet Briar.

It could be that she has been gathering knowledge about fire/air/poison/chaos/dragon energy to create the Marionette, and equip it with a weapon that can be tuned to affect any Elder Dragon. If she uses all these technologies, it would allow her to find a weakness for what ever Elder Dragon she confronts.

i think if it was mordremoth, the moment it awoke we’d lose the entire bloodtide coast map, and lion’s arch too.

so i’m going with “no” based on that.

I doubt losing LA is a possibility, but wouldn’t that be awesome to fundamentally change Bloodtide Coast? Overrun it with new minions and tear a gash in the world? It would probably also break open the Dominion of Winds….

I think there is going to be some new zone or zones after this, so that would work nicely… and maybe playable Tengu.

They already said that the wurm was a side-effect to the pulsing thingamajigs.

I don’t think Anet would lie to us – at least lore-wise

That might be an in-character explanation instead of an omniscient developer one. It’s like something an in-game character expert on stuff might hypothesize. They usually do a good job of not letting us know more than the inhabitants of the game world.

i’m thinking more “the whole map would become a dragon-sized crater”. they’d be pretty much scrapping the map. and if an ED woke up that close to LA, no way it would survive.

also, the dominion of winds is on the other side of the sea of sorrows, i don’t see how having a dragon in bloodtide coast would do that.

That massive dragon mural in Scarlet’s lair has three thorny tendril-like things near the end of its tail. It’s certainly possible these three wurms could actually be the tail of Mordremoth.

I think, while there has been have hints to the fact that she is harvesting the elements, she is also having the element of time. It is so heavily hinted that it has to be true. I dont know in what way though or why…

How is it hinted that she is harvesting “time” in any way? Also I feel like it would be a mistake to refer to time as an element. The GW universe, like most fantasy, subscribes to what traditional cultures throughout earth have referred to as the elements – which is usually fire, water, earth, air – and then aether on top of that as slightly more metaphysical element.
