So a few hours ago, 3 of my close guildies were banned relatively at the same time (different log-in times but were in the same party at the time) for farming Karka in Southsun Cove. As some, or most know, that spot is great for farming Karka shells which are useful in crafting or just selling. It’s also great for farming Vials of Powerful Bloods towards a legendary. The reason for their ban? “Botting.” This is where I get lost because I play with these 3 people most of the time. Even when we’re not partied, they’re either doing a dungeon or in WvW and I check via contact list. So for them, non-botters, to be expelled out of the game for this reason has given a red flag to my guild which houses 500 people including myself, so your evidence and vouches are there. This gives every player a ruined sense of security because everything can be farmed, so in turn, could everyone get banned for doing so? This discourages not only myself and my guild, but others to explore out in PvE to either farm for crafting, or just completing map. Admins, if you read this, I ask of you to not only fix this issue but to bring back my companions for it is your task to properly differentiate those who are innocent and those that do use third-party software that ruins the game for everyone and also ruins the trading post. I also have their incident numbers and I hope that this spree of completely random bans stop, players returned, and are compensated for whatever losses they have, i.e. laurels being the main reason of their hatred at the moment.

I apologize for not correctly indenting and separating my sentences correctly. It’s quite late, and I have been trying to resolve this issue for my friends who don’t have a say in anything right now and so have my guild. Everyone, including myself, will be losing a little bit of sleep tonight knowing that Tyria is unsafe. I also know that some of you may question the validity of my friends’ accountability of being a non-botter. I understand this, but try and relate this to anyone that you may know and think as a legit player. Admins, if you need the ticket claim numbers, I have all three waiting to be opened and reviewed. I appreciate it to whoever reads this.

It could go either way since this both pertains to an area of Tyria and also “Account Issues.” So please, try thinking of the situation first before blurting.

Ah no it doesn’t. If you go to the game discussion there are already several threads about this. There is nothing I can say to you other than appeal and hope Anet fixes the bug sometime soon.

Firstly. Wrong section of the forums.
This is the Lore section and as such your post, which clearly relates to account/gameplay related issues belongs in the general discussion subsection of the forums.

Secondly. Arenanet have already posted multiple comments saying that yes, there are some issues with their bot detection systems and that there are a few too many false positives being generated. However there are also a fair few circumstances of players having been hacked and used for botting without their knowledge I would imagine.

Since this is an issue with your friends accounts I would suggest that THEY lodge a ticket with support in order to get their accounts restored as soon as possible. (They won’t be “compensated”, there aren’t systems in place that can achieve that and they aren’t entitled to Laurels).

As for what you can do to keep yourself safe? Exercise reasonable judgement, if you are walking around continually doing the same thing take a break and do something else. Keep in mind that there are diminishing returns in place so you can’t even farm Karka for that long before you stop getting vials and shells. IF and I truly mean IF, your account is banned on suspicion of botting then you have nothing to worry about, simply lodge a ticket with support and they will be able to reinstate your account because on human inspection it will show as a false positive. Something that their automated systems don’t seem to be able to deal with as their parameters are too broad.

Rule #1 of gaming. It’s just a game, no need to panic.
