So what happened to Magdaer?
Can’t speak for Magdaer’s status, but the smith is most likely Beigarth, the norn’s most famous blacksmith, a friend of Eir’s, and experienced in working with unique materials. He’s most likely either back in Hoelbrak or working with the Pact as it rebuilds.
as Aaron said, the sword was given to the best norn blacksmith, whom by defnition of the word ‘should’ be Beigarth. It’s just one the 205E+28 items from the personal story that was going to have a HUGE impact on the world, but was almost instantly forgotten. I don’t expect we’ll see it anytime soon again. At least not until Rytlock is giving the cleansing another chance.
It was never said to be given to the best blacksmith. Just one Eir knew whom she believed could reforge the sword.
Eir: Magdaer is shattered, but I know a blacksmith who can mend these pieces.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
It is yet another plot thread ANet forgot about. Sadly Guild wars is full of them. I’d put it on the pile of, never going to find out. Same kitten many other plot threads left unresolved.

I don’t think we can say this is a “forgotten” piece or lore, considering how long it took for Demmi Beetlestone to return to the story. And remember how the sylvari revelation took 2 years, although it was decided before the game’s launch? Magdaer will return, when it becomes relevant to the story and not a moment sooner. So yeah, it’s with Eir’s blacksmith friend, and I imagine it’d take quite a while for a legendary magical weapon like that to get repaired. As I said, when it becomes plot relevant, it’ll return.

Like so many plot points in Guild Wars right? They all got answered….. no wait they didn’t. Nothing is 100% in story telling. There are so many lore threads and fate of characters from Guild Wars that where never answered and probably never will. Sure it was nice that we found out what happened to Saul, even if you have to watch a YouTube video to find out as it2locked behind a raid!, but I can’t see them making a raid to find out all the answers in Raids. We don’t even know who has the sword, and now Eir is dead would they even finish it? Or just leave it in a box to be forgotten about.

I’m not saying ALL plot threads from the whole history of Guild Wars will be answered at some point, but the two points I brought up indicate that some of the old plot threads are paying off now. A year or two ago, these negative statements were more justified, as there was little to no evidence of any of the old story lines paying off. Now, as even these little bits are trickling down, I think we can have more hope that the answers will come about.
As for how Magdaer will be reintroduced, I’m betting it’ll be through Logan. Eir commissioned the sword to be repaired so she could give it to him. She probably told the blacksmith about that, off-hand if not explicitly, and when it’s finished, the smith will send a letter to Logan about it. Then Logan, wanting a friend, tells us to meet him outside the forge to learn more about it. I mean, E did say that he needed him alive…
Braham’s gonna show up in Episode 6 with a flaming bow, while Rox wields a fiery dragon sword… turns out it’s Magdaer.

That… may actually be a distinct possibility. If the Norn consider the sword to have passed down from Eir to Braham, he might well give it to someone he considers a trusted ally… and the fact that humans might be upset about that is more human stuff he doesn’t care about.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
