I have been doing the personal story on one of my characters and have gotten to the level 70 one and suddenly two things have happened which have no relevance and was wondering if I have missed something out and if so was hoping someone would fill the gaps in for me.

Who are the other eyes of Zhaitan and when did they get freed and where?

Who is the woman with wings and a gas mask that spins to teleport? Why does my character know her? What has she done to help?

And a little off-topic question but for the Sylvari story which zones should I go and complete? I pretty much went 1-20 or so in Sylvari zones and did not find any till 60-80, is there any in between these?

And yet another thread brought about by the mishap ArenaNet caused in the 9/9 update.

Originally, there was an entire plotline related to the fear question the Pale Tree asked you in A Light in the Darkness. This plotline was would take place between Forging the Pact and Battle at Fort Trinity; it was removed. Then the very end of hte personal story (Against the Corruption to The Source of Orr) was placed after Battle at Fort Trinity. The Eyes of Zhaitan and Sayeh are introduced in what is now the end of the personal storyline (Temple of the Forgotten God to Further into Orr’s three plot split). Originally you’d meet Sayeh either during a specific fear plot, or during Temple of the Forgotten God; and you’d meet the first Eye of Zhaitan at Temple of the Forgotten God.

Now they changed the order, but they didn’t alter any dialogue or NPC spawning – just how you get to the instance. So new players re left with the questions you have.

As to your last question, at chapter 3, the sylvari storyline deals a lot in Kessex Hills and a bit in Gendarran Fields. Then it’s dependent on your Order and racial sympathy choices – the race no longer matter beyond dialogue change after chapter 3 (level 30). Your “sylvari zones” is simply Maguuma Jungle (by mechanics). Sparkfly Fen and Mount Maelstrom aren’t so much “sylvari zones” as they are “sharing similar themes to the Maguuma Jungle zones”. There are no Maguuma Jungle zones between Brisban Wildlands (15-25) and Sparkfly Fen (55-65).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Okay I think I understand then though it seems very odd that such a big hole is in the story. The only way to understand now is to watch a video online then?

I will have to check out those zones then, it is more the atmosphere and environment I like anyway since the hearts and random events do not seem to have any decent story tied to them but I do find random NPC speech to be quite insightful about the races on rare occasions.

Was hoping for more story lines like in GW1 but I’m guessing the only story is really the personal story for treehearne?

The only dropped stories are the greatest fears in which you:

Tonn – blow things up
Syska – a high ranked member was replaced by Zhaitans forces, trying to weaken the highest ranks
Apatia – the krait have a strange blue orb which keeps the risen away, let’s steal it (the orb is still part of a later story)

The remaining mixed up storylines still have all informations which they had from the start. You may miss some background about NPCs which you meet during greatest fear. The 70 and 80 storylines once were parallel and were separated for better understanding of the plot. You were ordered to Arah after the orrian waters have been cleaned in the original setup (with a short stop in Fort Trinity).

Towards the eyes. There are three which you fight during the personal story, you meet two which you don’t fight and you do not get the information if you have fought this two, but it’s not important. There are two bigger bosses in the open world and some more in other events (like the temple event “Gates of Arah”). There is just one spirit coming from these eyes and this is during the personal story.

Basically it’s your story. If you aren’t sylvari, you meet him first during assault on claw island and you both have the same target (the dragon) and help one another.

Slow clap for the great puppet player.
