A great fire burned at the center of Hoelbrak. It was as if the tall flames caught the gaze of the great Spirits, who looked upon the great gathering trough the eyes of their giant glacial statues. It was a norn gathering unlike any before. They all came to the fire to join the song.

- “Land of bear,” the shaman started. “land of eagle, land that gave us birth and blessing. Land that called us ever homeward – we will go home across the mountains!”

A boy pushed his way trough the crowd, all the way to the front. He had never heard this song before, nor had he seen a fire as big. The shaman continued and other voices followed.

- “We will go home,” they sang. “We will go home! We will go home across the mountains! Hear our singing! Hear our longing! We will go home across the mountains! … We will go home.”

A tall warrior stood next to the boy. He had the tattoos like all the great hunters, like his father did and all his fathers before him. The boy was afraid at first but gathered his courage and asked the warrior:

- “What are they singing about?”
- “What do you think?” the warrior replied.

The boy stepped back then, loosing his courage for a moment. The warrior pointed at the great glacial bear in the distance and the words started to make sense. The boy looked at the statues. Bear. Wolf. Snow Leopard. Raven. The others were singing to them.

-“We’re calling the Great Spirits.” The warrior nodded and explained:
-“The song is of our home that we left long ago. This is the greatest gathering the norn remember. This is the greatest fire the Shiverpeaks had ever seen! And this song is for the Spirits of the Wild … and more.”

-“More?” the boy asked.

The warrior lifted the boy up on his shoulder and said:

-“Look at the tooth of the dragon in the fire. Broken. Crushed. The time has come for us to take back our home! HEAR US JORMAG!!” And then he joined with the others, and the deep strong voices of the norn echoed trough the night.

“Hear our song,
Hear our singing
Hear our, Hear our song
Hear our singing
Hear our, Hear our song
Hear our singing
Hear our, Hear our song
Hear our singing
Hear our song

We will go home,
We will go home
We will go home,
Across the mountains,

Hear our singing,
Hear our longing
We will go home
Across the mountains…"

You might want to post this in the fan works subforum, this forum is for lore discussions only.

Besides, the Norn don’t strike me as people who would bemoun the loss of their land. They are attached to their environment, true, but not to the specific location, instead they are attached to the nature in general. Thus they don’t really care where they are, as long as they can be in touch with nature in one way or the other, as evidenced by the great amount of Norn who leave the shiverpeaks entirely to go on adventures, some of whom never come back.
Now you might say, but why did they fight Jormag if they don’t care that much about their homeland? Easy, because it was a worthy opponent to slay. The spirits had to guide them south so they would stop trying to kill the dragon, not because they didn’t want to leave the Far Shiverpeaks.
Of course there are stories told about the old homeland, but I guess that’s more for nostalgia and the general popularity of stories and legends among the Norn. When I think about it, I’m not sure if the Norn even have a concept of homeland, maybe they just have hunting grounds, a radius in which a Norn and his kin hunt and live and they can leave without remorse if there isn’t any worthy prey left.

You don’t win friends with salad! Sorry I just got caught up in the rhythm.

Great suggestions Ludovicus. Would really appreciate if we finally got into elder dragon lore. It’s been a year since release.

I’d like to elaborate these points, but only if there’s people interested.
On the other hand. This could be posted on the living world forum.
I’m tented to make a full thread about this idea there.
But I’m not fully motivated due to the irrelevance of it. It would never be implemented and that makes me sad.

Edit: I decided to do it anyway. I suggest you go to the Fan Generated Content Forum if you want to find out more about this idea.

The glory of my ancestors shall be restored.
