“Ventari fled south, to the Tarnished Coast, where he befriended a human named Ronan, with whom he planted the Pale Tree and founded the sanctuary of peace for all races seeking it that would eventually become the Grove. Along with Ronan, and after the human’s death, he raised and nurtured the tree.
He died in 1180 AE, having written down his life experiences on an artifact that would later be known as the Ventari Tablet and placed it at the foot of the Pale Tree. 25 years ago, the firstborn of the sylvari sprouted forth from the tree and the race now holds his views in high regard.”

Did Ronan and Ventari know what they were doing?
Did they have any idea what the pale tree was going to become?
Did they have any knowledge of the Sylvari Mordremoth connection?
If so, what was their objective? to force a joint peace between Humans and Centaurs by joining force in battle? If there is no connection, would this be one of the greatest ironies story wise? A grove of peace being the birth place of destruction and death.

What are you thoughts on Ventari and Ronan on this issue?

Maybe they knew nothing. Maybe they, well, had a thought about that it could be useful to somehow purge the tree. I don’t think that they knew about the sylvari, but maybe they had the hope that they could bring the tree to the good side of the force via Ventari’s tablet.

By the way, I don’t believe that the Sylvari will cause destruction and death… at least not all. Nightmare court, maybe even the Soundless… but the Pale Tree is still no enemy of Tyria and will never be.

if the soundless have meditated to cut themselves from the dream, does that make them less at risk form mordremoth’s influence (assuming the dream is just a hive-mind left over from mordremoth

and is the nightmare technically dragon corruption? could we bring a courtier to arah and cure it?

Actually, Getefix, we’ve been told the opposite- that disconnecting from the Dream, either by Soundlessness or whatever Scarlet did, leaves one much more vulnerable to Mordremoth. That alone I believe makes a very convincing point against the Dream being tied to Mordremoth.

We don’t know anything conclusive about the Nightmare, but it may be worth mentioning that the first Mordrem we encountered, besides the tendrils which may or may not be part of Mordremoth’s body, were the nightmare hounds and husks we’d previously seen serving the Nightmare Court and being investigated in the Inquest’s dragon lab.

“Within the Dream is a nightmare, tugging at the heart of each sylvari” I got this quote from the wiki http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dream_of_Dreams
My opinion on this topic is that the Dream, which as far as we know is unique to the Pale Tree, was created due to the seed being planted on a human gravesite. Whether this means that it is actually tapping into the Mists, the ‘ether’ or life force of Tyria or something else, this would mean that the Nightmare is separate from it, as it is caused by a Dragon (his will attempting to exert itself over them). So in essence, the Pale Tree/Dream = free will, Mordy/the Nightmare = corruption

Seeing as Lions Arch is located around a very large Ley Line Hub…would be it so far fetched to think that the Grove is also located over a very large Ley Line Hub?
