I’ve read that sylvari can’t have kids because they are born from the Pale Tree. I’ve also seen that Sylvan Hounds come from the pale tree as well, but you see plenty of puppy sylvan hounds around Caledon Forest and probably a few other places.

Is there any lore about this? Like, did the original sylvan hounds come from the tree, but they had to breed to continue the species?

Does this mean that sylvari could theoretically have children?

I’m not sure if this was addressed in another post anywhere, if it has been, don’t be afraid to say..Already talked about this and link me there.

My guess is the hounds are released from the tree during their growing stage, and hence we call them puppies before they reach maturity.
Sylvari stay in their pods until they mature, but inside their pods, they go through the growing process in the same way.

the sylvan hounds could awaken at their pup stage, rather than having to be on adult stage before leaving.

I can’t remember where exactly, maybe in the Caledon by all the dogs, or maybe in the Omphalos Chambe, Someone explains that the pups are born from the tree “small” and grow to full size in a few months.

What Yata said – the NPC being a heart NPC in Caledon Forest.

Ive found two NPCs that talk about this: one in the Pale Tree’s chamber in the Grove near Ventari’s tablet and the other at one of the first hearts in the Sylvari area.

From what I understand, Sylvari hounds all come from the Pale Tree like Sylvari but start young as pups and grow. Why the Pale Trees ‘fruit’ are born in different ways is certianly interesting. Currently there doesnt seem to be an explaination why or if there are any other creatures that come from her.

Ha! So it was both NPCs. yeah I think it’s funny that the pups are born small but the sylvari themselves aren’t. /shrug
