Because we can’t be angry about both?
Q:
The wiki says that sylvari are immune to the cold, because they lack thermoreceptors. However, there’s an NPC dialog in the Grove where one sylvari tells the other that Hoelbrak was her least favourite place she visited because she was so cold all the time. I tried getting help on the wiki, but it doesn’t seem to be watched too closely, so can I get any information about this?
Also, if they are immune to the cold, wouldn’t they be just as impervious to heat?

Uh, you may want to re-read the wiki, because what the wiki says is this:
“Sylvari do infact have thermoreceptors as referenced by a Sylvari explorer in the Grove. She states that she dislikes Hoelbrak as it is too cold. "
The wiki says they do, not that they don’t.
Besides, you got an NPC in Hoelbrak, the one in the Grove, and a barefooted one in Wayfarer Foothills all complaining about the cold of the Shiverpeaks.
Side note: it seems that there was previously a mistake claiming they don’t, but this was fixed over a month ago on September 22nd.

The game is not incredibly clear on this, as in so many aspects of sylvari biology, but putting together various statements from around the game it appears they can feel temperature (and therefor do have ‘thermoreceptors’) but are not adversely affected nor severely discomforted by it the way a creature of flesh and blood would be. Things like hypothermia and frostbite do not appear to affect sylvari, or at least not at the same threshold as it would a human. That doesn’t necessarily mean they are immune to the far ends of the spectrum, though- things like fire or a drake’s frost breath are still harmful.
My Sylvari says she’s “freezing” every time she gets Chilled, so I’m pretty certain she can feel cold. As Aaron suggests, I think that Sylvari are just affected by cold to a (much) lesser degree than humanoids.
Ah, I had been checking the wiki for updates since July, and had given up hope of getting an answer. Looks like I jumped the gun on this one. (I mentioned it in the “discussion” section, probably prompting the edit.) Thanks!
