I’ve been playing a sylvari engineer for about two years now. However I never thought about the lore of sylvari engineers. Not why they would pursue the profession ( they are naturally curious and only 25yrs old or less.) So engineering is just as magical as magic itself. My question is this, how/where do sylvari Learn the ways of the engineer? Is there any lore behind it? I know scarlet briar learned from multiple races through out each city; that could possibly be one way. Thank you for reading my rant!

The player is already well learned in the subject at the time of playing, which is strange since as a sylvari is born from the dream at the time of playing. As for the others, they all learn it somewhere, cybernetics, iron legion, Uzolan proves humans are capable engineers as well. I think norn need to go out of their way to find engineering talents. As for sylvari, I’m afraid I can only make educated guesses. Knowledge and experience returns to the dream, so maybe youre tethering off on your predecessors. Maybe you got Caera’s memories of tinkering, dunno.

That’s the way I take it is for Sylvari. The dream knows that a certain Sylvari will be an engineer (or mesmer/guardian/ranger/whatever) and so gives them the knowledge they need to start out in that profession. Also note that not every sylvari has a profession, I always understood it to be only a few who weren’t ordinary citizens or wardens (though I guess the warden’s are rangers?)

Any sylvari can be a anything, but I suppose those with a dream will have a call to a certain class. As for the wardens.. arent they simply any ranger without a dream that forces them to leave, so instead, they stay to preserve the Dreamers Glade
