Tengu NPC in Mists - Hint?
Anet sure do love there hints <3 hope so!
Personally I find it farfetched to make this jump of conclusions. It might be an hint, but it can also mean a dozen other things, including that there is no meaning behind it at all,
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Well apparently they were a strong candidate to be a playable race by Anet. Given that their city is still totally inaccessible but under growing threat and the race itself is very unique with an avian physique and Japanese style it’s very likely they will be the next playable race in any expansion.
The fact that they’re the closest thing to a playable race hasn’t changed, but this particular npc doesn’t seem to be pointing towards them being playable
He’s just a guy who is a pvp vendor, and the content for that is apparently not available
I don’t see how his dialogue relates to tengu being future playable race?
Anyways, there used to be quaggans in the Heart of the Mists, and I can never see them becoming playable.
But the Making of GW2 book did state that tengu were originally to be a playable race but were dropped from such during development – that NPC, should the Heart of the Mists really intentionally follow the “playable races only” motif (which I doubt is intentional), it may be a remnant of such.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
I agree that the dialogue doesn’t really hint at anything beyond an improved glory system.
I just talked to a vendor that was a Golem, which is obvious proof that the next playable race will be Golems!
We get to play Golems guys!

Do you think we get to call the Dwarves golems now since they’ve basically turned themselves into smaller variants of the golems from Dragon Age?
GOLEM stands for Genius Operated Living Enchanted Manifestation, as is seen in GW1, so no you cannot. It’s a different universe, and they’re more closely related to Elementals than Golems anyways.
I’d say they’re closest to dragon minions now, personally.
They were organic beings, changed into another material, and their minds have been altered, given a fanatical-ness.
Sounds just like a dragon minion.
Obviously Great Dwarf=Mordremoth

Except their minds, while similar to a dragon minion’s, are nothing like it, in the sense that most individuals seem to retain individualism (to a sense). And also their only goal is to destroy the minions of the dragons (primordus specifically) and they have no interest really in the outside world. Not, of course, that I thought you were serious, but it honestly makes sense to me that they were created in the likeness of dragon minions in order to fight dragon minions. There is still a whole lot of confusion around what exactly the Great Dwarf was, individual or not. It is something that we will someday find out (I hope.)
“in the sense that most individuals seem to retain individualism (to a sense)” – like Ogden? Huh, sounds like those princes in Orr, or Lord Kitah, or the Mouths/Eyes of Zhaitan, or other powerful risen/icebrood we fight.
I wasn’t really serious about them being dragon minions, but I was serious in that sans their objective, they act just like dragon minions now. Physically and mentally. There are just no (to our knowledge) “grunt” minions (aka the mindless zergers). They’re all of lieutenant (and possibly champion) level when compared to ED minions.

I just talked to a Skritt merchant, this is obvious proof that the next playable race will be Skritt!
We get to play Skritt guys!
