The 2nd half of Season 2's Flaws
1 episode left? I didn’t see that anywhere…
If anything this is still the first half. They did take a mid-season break, but that break certainly wasn’t the halfway point. Season 1 had at least 13 episodes, not including halloween, wintersday, dragon bash, bazaar of the four winds, and SAB.
There is still alot of story left before we even get to being near the end of season 2.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
It was stated during Halloween that we have “half the season left” or some such. IIRC, it was in a PoI episode.
Anet counts Season 1 as 20 episodes, but counts The Lost Shores, Bazaar of the Four Winds, Tequatl Rising, and the ToN updates during Halloween and Wintersday 2013 all as “Special Events” (also counts each Flame and Frost as their own episode).
They seem to be matching the Personal Story’s length of 8 due to the complaints about Season 1 being too long and drawn out. The issue is that the Personal Story was too short (imo at least). 12 or 16 releases would be the best number. But we get what we get… And Season 2 seems to be only 8 episodes. The plot of the egg is clearly not going to be fulfilled, let alone Mordremoth. I’m guessing a finale of Mordremoth in Season 3 or an unannounced-yet-expansion.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

And even then, we accomplished much more in any given PS chapter than in any of the S2 episodes we’ve had. Then, we always accomplished what it was we set out to do at the start, and while back then it led to a very compartmentalized story, S2 hasn’t given us any sense that we’re succeeding. At this point, if we do manage to beat Mordremoth it’ll feel almost like an accident.

Yeah, it lost focus really.
Zhaitan had a very organized army, so we have to counter the attack and dismantle the army piece by piece. Mordremoth is even simpler, we need to find its location and strike out. Because it could attack from anywhere, we can’t just try to defend.
The story should not focus on some egg or Caithe’s memory, but track the direction of Scarlet’s magic wave, and look at those vines to locate Modremoth.
I also find myself objecting to using visions for so many of the big moments. It means that the big things are happening to us, rather than letting us do the big things- which in a way is an even more passive version of one of S1’s problems, where we were always reacting to Scarlet.
