The Cleansing of Orr
I suspect that the northern coast of Orr is likely to remain fixed in time – ANet is changing the world, but they’re doing so in ways that don’t interfere with existing content. If it does change, it’s likely to be something like WoW’s Cataclysm – everything being rebuilt from the ground up and a new 1-80 personal story being developed to account for the changes.
Any changes we do see in Orr are more likely to come from new zones being opened up in parts of Orr we can’t yet access.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
I’m just going to say “what drax said” since that’s pretty much verbatim what I would have posted.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
It kind of depends on the level and depth of corruption, since Zhaitan has been sitting in Orr for a good century, spewing out corrupted magic. The cleansed Artesian Waters could take a good couple of years, if not maybe decades, to cleanse all of Orr.
As for southern Orr, it’s up what they are going to do with Palawa Joko. Is he going to be a bad guy we have to kill, or a bad guy we have to work with, like in gw1. Because now that Zhaitan is gone, I can see him going, “Oh look, free land!”, and trying to claim it as his own.
If they do get around the changing the whole area, I would like to see something done with the temples, maybe them getting claimed by the Pact/High Priests. They would have to open up more areas/zones to move those chest events though.
They can do like they did with War in Kryta and Winds of Change. If your character has beaten the game, you can go to an NPC and they will change the maps to reflect the progression. You can always opt to change them back. This way new players can start from scratch, while player who want to enjoy new content can do so
I would honestly love it if all zones that had risen involved in them could change eventually after Zhaitan’s death, but then you get into issues with splitting up the community even further by technically adding so many more zones. New players and old won’t see each other often and it becomes kinda messy. Plus currently all zones are stuck in time, but if certain ones changed while others stayed the same, the game might start getting confusing. I don’t know how they plan on doing things, but I’ll trust they do it well
I suspect Orr and nearby lands will stay as they are for the foreseeable future. Even if the process has begun, the amount of risen and such still roaming around is likely to be huge. So while they will dwindle away, and can be contained now that the source is out of the game, there will likely not be a massive clearing effort undertaken as long as there are 5 other dragons to deal with.

Actually, they can’t. Well, they can do what you’re thinking of, but it wouldn’t be the same as WiK/WoC.
Guild Wars had instanced areas, while this is persistent areas. That’s what allowed Anet to do WiK and WoC changes – ever notice how the outposts remained unchanged aside from a few new NPCs? The reason they didn’t change the outposts (much) is why they won’t do this to GW2 – the GW1 outposts are persistent, just as all zones in GW2 are. Besides, doing this in GW2 would split the playerbase.

maybe when we fight kralky we choose one of 2 attack paths to start with, one going south, following the brand from ebonhawke and the other may be going down scavanger’s causeway, making the new cleansed south part only accessible once you kill zhaitan?
