Q:

Well, i read the mad king story again on the wiki to refresh my mind, and i saw that his first act as a king was killing Lord Humphrey Faren.
I was like wow, i have heard this name, and i remember lord faren, you know, the speedo guy who was being cook in a pot in the first part of the scarlet donjon in divinity reach.

So, is those two share a family bond or something? Knowing the mad king i find strange that i somehow forgotten to eradicate the entire family, again it is the mad king, so he could have juste kill this guy and got over it XD.

What do you think?

I don’t recall that Edus, just that the Faren lineage is long lasting in nobility.

About the Mad King’s actions… I find something interesting from the short story: he claims he only ever killed as part of a joke. But some of the actions attributed to him – burning that Harathi Hinterlands village and wiping its name from history – seemed more like an act of pure blood-filled violence.

I’m wondering if the more cruel actions of the Mad King were actions Eddie’s doing, but since knowledge of him was removed no one knows that it was the Painlord (lolol) rather than the Mad King.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Mad King has a twisted sense of humor. I bet he can find a “funny” reason to have done that.

You see Konig, the people were complaining about being too cold during the winter, so he decided that “If you build a man a fire he is warm for a while, if you set a man on fire he’s warm for the rest of his life”. Well the fire caught waaaay to well and pretty much wiped away any proof that this village ever existed. So he decided it was only best that he just remove it’s name from history, seeing as the city had already been removed anyways.

Yeah, apparently zoned out over that one sentence then. Didn’t doubt you, just didn’t hear it myself. :P

Konig’s second point about some of the Mad King’s more brutal actions being possibly attributable to Edrick rather than his father is actually quite plausible. Edrick himself did mention he did a lot of his acts to stir up the populace against Oswald, so my guess is that he had guards announce that the slaughter was being done by order of the Mad King etc. Since Oswald eventually had all the records of Edrick purged, there would be nobody to dispel the notion that he actually DIDN’T order those massacres.

Don’t get me wrong; Mad King Thorn is still a demented, psychotic villain (Chaotic Evil, without a doubt), but there’s a certain method to his madness. A bit like how most of the Joker’s actions (another Chaotic Evil villain) are geared towards proving how he had no choice but to “go mad” when confronted with unbearable and tragic circumstances, essentially trying to justify his actions.
