Good day fellow lore-fanatics,

With all these Ley Energies going haywire to a point that naked Ley-men are running across maps causing havoc like never before I have come to a question that others of you might’ve been wondering about aswell.

Are the Human Gods aware of what we are doing? And could our actions draw back their attention to Tyria?

It’s a fair question. Considering we’ve killed two Elder Dragons who served as two cogs within the Eternal Alchemy; the Asuran belief that the world is always in a perfect balance of destruction and revival.
Having killed these two Elder Dragons has caused Ley-Energy to flow into the world with a rate that maybe could be resembled to when Abaddon released magic out of the Bloodstone and caused the Guild Wars. Did it look the same back then?

Another point I’d also like to mention is that this kind of magic that is being violently released into the world is the same magic that the Elder Dragons consumed about 10.000 years ago during the last awakening of the Elder Dragons. But is it stronger, weaker or any different in any way?

I believe that magic can’t be created or destroyed; atleast that’s what some Asura said, right?

Discuss as you wish

It’s unclear, but it’s likely that the gods are watching. There’s evidence in the Personal Story, for instance, that Grenth at least still maintains some interest in Tyria… or is at least annoyed at his servants being stolen by Zhaitan.

Whether it’ll “draw back their attention”…that seems unlikely. We’ve been told that the gods have essentially taken the attitude that humans are adults now and can deal with their own problems, so they’re not going to step in. It’s possible that they’ll intervene if it looks like humans are going to collapse entirely without it, but probably not until then… and even then, it may only be an(other) evacuation rather than solving the problem themselves.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

Can anyone explain to me what exactly the Gods are currently doing? Where did they go? What did they do before they left? Have they no interest in humans/tyria? Are they scared of the dragons and in hiding? So many questions

As I understand it, no one knows the answers to those questions. Some humans think the Gods are totally gone, others think they’re watching and even quietly interfering, and will still pray to them.

Though GW1 people might know what happened before the Gods left? But anything after that has not been revealed.

First, they came to Tyria, drawn by the magical forces at the Artesian Waters (this is in Orr), but they didn’t realize it was Zhaitan’s magic slowly being released out of him. Then they brought humanity to Tyria and one of the then Six Gods, named Abaddon, released magic from within a Seer-made Bloodstone and gifted it to humans. But.. Humans got greedy and started to go to war with eachother, which were the Guild Wars. So.. the then Krytan King named Doric set out on a pilgrimage to plea the Six Gods to take back their gift of magic. They agreed, and sealed the magic back into the Bloodstone with King Doric’s blood. However, Abaddon was not happy and started a full-on war with the other 5 Gods, managing to defeat 2, but not the other 3. Then, Abaddon was cast down and imprisoned within his own Realm of Torments and tried to influence Tyria from within it by causing several major events that Guild Wars 1 was about. But the devastation caused by defeating Abaddon made the other 5 Gods leave Tyria in their visible form, yet remained looking over Humans from the Mists and blessing us with their favors, this event was called ‘’The Exodus of the Gods’’. The events that were caused by Abaddon as he was still in his Realm were…

The Searing
The Jade Wind
The Cataclysm
Nightfall

At the end of Nightfall, you the Hero and several other Sunspears including Kormir defeated Abaddon and Kormir, who was blessed by Dwayna and Lyssa, took over Abaddon’s power before it was going to burst out and destroy Tyria for good. After Abaddon was defeated the Gods left Tyria for good and said that Tyria was our world (us being Humans) and we should be wise with what we do with it.

Then the Elder Dragons awoke.

We don’t have in-universe answers to any of those questions, but a couple dev interviews have laid out that the Gods wanted to give humans to room to fail and succeed on their own (they always use the metaphor of a parent becoming more and more hands-off as the kids grow up), and also that they might recognize that their direct intervention could bring more harm than good (think of the war with Abaddon creating the Crystal Desert and the Desolation).

dont they have this thing that they would not meddle directly with mortals anymore unless some gods (abaddon) decide to meddle.

As far as I can remember (correct me if im wrong), the human Gods saw tyria, when they arrived, as a barren wasteland after the previous rise of the elder dragons. Considering we have only seen cantha, elona & the continent tyria (technically speaking also that 4th continent of the canceled gw1 expansion that still is canon), plus taking into account that on the world map found in the order of whisperes clubhouse, the rest of the world is mostly still a barren wasteland. A massive one for that matter.
So its entirely presumable that the gods have just decided that they got bored with the humans, and since they can handle their own affairs themselves now that they moved on with new projects elsewhere in tyria. That or they just are on a retirement on their home planet, treating tyria as their race’s equivalent of game of thrones.

However what would be more interesting is to think of what will happen in the case they return. Will the humans go back fully devoting themselves to them? How would the other races act? Will all races be like, sure what effs. Or will all the races, including the humans get kittened that they packed their bags fleeing the onslaught of the dragons, only to return now that it turns out that the combined might of the high races of tyria can defeat the dragons? (and more questions, like, would the gods try to prevent them from fighting the dragons, since they are a vital part of tyria, etc)

  • Unknown
  • Unknown, but “they’re not in the Mists”
  • They witnessed ABaddon’s death and Kormir’s rise.
  • Sounds like it’s less no interest and more “don’t want to interfere/want humans to stand on their own now”
  • Nothing beyond a single asura’s criticism indicates they are vulnerable nor are scared of the Elder Dragons.
Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
