The Karlketorrik X-Pac
You can’t be serious. Devs will never give us a whole continent just to make it one big instance for 1 person omk (oh my kitten). neither to join Palawa.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
No, I mean players can decide: Do I help Palawa or do I stop him. in the coming months both groups do things to support there side, the winning side decides how elona turns out: a freed Elona or one dictated by Palawa.

While I personally love the idea, as I want to support Joko, but a lot of players don’t and this would make no one feel left out, it still generates the Factions problem. It splits the community in 2, something Anet wants to avoid at all cost. That’s why all the races are united against the EDs instead of fighting each other.

The fact of feeling left out could be undone by making it a serverwide decission, that is made e.g. weekly through a massive meta event. It could go three ways:
Neutral: nothing happens and no DE’s goes on on the nightfallmaps for a week, this will happen if people got bored and dont give a thing bout it.
Joko wins: Serverwide bonus effect ’Joko’s blessing’ every player steals health on critical. All dynamic events on the nightfall maps are based round establishing the reign of Joko.
Elonians win: Serverwide bonus effect ’Elona’s Blessing’ plus x amount of damage against undead. All dynamic events on the nightfall maps are based bout rebuilding elona to it’s former glory.
By adding special themed weapons and also armor that are only available if either side wins and by adding achievements tracks to both sides it should encourage all servers to let the other side win from time to time. Together with guesting you could always get and what you want
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
So, in this case it is pretty much turning into a player vs player style event? Certain players working for Joko while others fight against him? I do not think that this will happen, but I’ve been wrong before. What I would prefer would be events that happen in the world that have much more dire effects that resound with the world. Leaving marks and taking time to be repaired.
not really open world pvp. let’s say We go to the town at the border of Elona there you can choose help the sunspears, help Palawa. you get send to a side of the border(which changes depending on how many points are scored by wich side (like Kurzick/Luxon) points can be gathered by completing events( or even win pvp matches with special mechanics, think JQ/FA)
if the border gets shoved to one main base(Palawa / sunspears)
a final dungeon unlocks or one big event, (but that could be a new ancient karka fight).
after that Elona is under control of the winning faction,
the dungeon could be something like the elite missions in GW, uberhard content, something to really fight for!
like in GW you can add sunspear/undead title track with extra armor/Weapon sets, reduced wp cost/armor repair if in a your faction controlled zone…
my first idea was to make this 1 time, but thinking about it it would be better if it resets after a while, with the title progression
how will it reset? timer? player input somehow?
player imput would be nicest ofc, the losing faction can do infiltration/sabotage missions ( dungeons) or the pvp as mentioned above to gather points.
players should Always be able to switch factions, but the faction were they have the most faction gathered should be considerd for the buffs
just some thoughts, as WvW is one way of endless pvx fun, sPvP is endless PvP fun, this could be endless pve fun

While I think this is a pretty cool idea, I see two big issues with it: 1) splitting the community into rebel and pro-Joko camps, and 2) that this would mean using up an entire continent.
If sides were server-wide, like what mercury is talking about, that’s one way to fix problem number 1. And how about making this whole event thingy happen in only one PART of Elona (a whole instanced continent is really a bit much).
Just saying.
I’m sorry Wouw, but I just can’t seem to grasp in an MMO world how you can have players playing for both sides of a conflict without having them fight each other directly. I understand the shifting border, but things obviously can’t work like the individually instanced world of Guild Wars 1.
Well it could, one side of the border gives you support palawa events the other side gives you support sunspear events, completing such a event gives you faction. the side who gets the most faction in like say a week gets more ground. add the JQ FA style pvp for some player vs player action and it could work well: escort SS/undead, collect siege/food/undead, take over towns, destroy caravans, etc
alot of things possible
the elite area would be assault palawa/asault the SS spearmarshal. Palawa can’t die ofc and just get’s imprisoned. and it’s a super hard dungeon(like UW,Urgoz,Deep,DoA,FoW),has alot of rare drops, gives faction,…
and is avaible for a short amount of time before the border get’s reset.
maybe a oppertunity to rerelease Alliance Battles.
So in other words, your idea is that there are zones that players that are support sunspear can only go to and those who are support joko can only go to. And as the border shifts they get more or less territory to play in. I’d say for your idea to be complete, there would have to be a way in which the support joko’s or support sunspears could defend their keep, whether it be from NPC’s or players. You would have to change your ideas around a bit though, because from my understanding there are no longer any sunspears.
no you can actually freely move over the border, but to ear faction you have to do things in the zone of that faction
and there were some sunspears left who were hunted down by palawa, but this information has been old, as it’s been a long time since refugees made it to Tyria
True, but I find it hard to believe that there would be enough sunspears left to forge some massive offensive. It seems more likely to me it would be the pact trying to defend Tyria from incursion personally.
The Palawa or Sunspear faction idea is terrible considering Joko’s army completely wiped out the Sunspears and dominates all of Elona.
Even ignoring that, the players have no incentive lore-wise to join Joko’s army. Then you have conflicting stories, on one hand you’re the Pact Commander, on the other, you’re assisting a lich whose dominance is at odds with the Pact’s (and definitely all living being’s) interests.
As for a large-scale battleground in which players determine the outcome of the battle, that’s WvW. And the reason there’s no impact on the lore from WvW is because then you’d have to concept two separate maps/scripts/characters/etc. Is so much of a hassle that by the time the battle’s done, players will wait for several months to see the changes in the content. By that time, everyone forgot who one the battle.
On top of all this, no one’s going to want to be heading for their next personal story mission across the border, only to get continually ganked by the other team. Guild Wars is still a heavy PvE game and no way is ANet going to interbreed the two.
I think Elona is better served if Istan is a couple of maps with traditional heart quests. But then Kourna, Vabbi, and the Desolation is all out battle like Orr with the personal story for that campaign woven in.
I geuus you never played GuildWars: Factions, as I said before NO open-world PvP, you earn faction by completing events/the INSTANCED PvP Batlles, Dungeons
And you have lore incentives to join Joko’s army, You have to fight Kralketorriut youneed support from the locals, the story devides in to two main story arches(something A-net wants to do and did alot(but with less impact)in GW2) eventually both factions help you fight the Dragon, but no peace between the factions, tho. when the Dragon is gone, the fight starts again(lore-wise, ofc, the fight keeps happening)
You can say Desolation: Palawa, Vabi/kourna middle ground, Istan Rebels/Sunspears.
Crystal Desert: Pact, or neutral grounds.
entire Elona is a lvl 80 zone
and Palawa isn’t just a mindless being as a ElderDragon, He knows Kralkie gains more control over His lands and to destroy him He HAS to work together with the rebels and the pact.
on: all the sunspears are gone. The movement of the world told us that just a few sunspear remain, Those few sunspear are the leaders of a bigger group of rebels, as we know, every (Hated) Dictator get’s Rebels.
wouw, it’s like: America will support North Korea to fight the Arabic world…
In GW1, Palawa was an option, because he did nothing at your time (was sealed). In GW2, humans want to see him dead (really, really dead, not undead). Elonian refugees will join palawa, who caused them to flee?
Maybe if there would be a treaty, like between Ascalonians and charr, if Joko leaves Vabbi Kourna and Istan, or at least won’t go further than river Elon, I could imagine to join forces with him. But then no reason for PvP.
Fear The Crazy [Huns]
Let’s say Country A and Country B Fight eachother, but than treath X comes along, if not destroyed it will destroy both Country A, B and the neutral C.
We have seen this happen before: the Truce between Humans and Charr, Between Luxons and Kurzicks
As said before, Palawa knows when he is to weak to win a fight alone.
(and he is as happy to break those truces.)
The rebels only have a temporary truces with Palawa, so they can defeat Kralkie, because otherwise they would both be destroyed, the Pact is there to make the truce and keep it safe.
If the in commun treath is destroyed, the fighting restarts. This happens alot actually, even in WvW
Could open up aswell, what happens if all the ED’s get destroyed and The pact get’s disbanded and all races (except Norn) are Highly War-foccused evolved?
EDIT: Removed the slightly Racist comment

I am going to say that we stop it right here! We are not going to start a thread that bashes real life countries in a game lore forum. I am not a moderator, obviously, but I think someone should put their foot down fast before things get way off topic.
Now back on the subject. I agree that Palawa Joko may try to truce with the pact, and should any rebels exist (I’m just saying that this is speculative whether rebels exist in numbers large enough to pose a threat to an undead army as large as Palawa Joko’s) them as well. I do not know how much of a threat Kralkatorrik is to Palawa Joko though. Not that I believe that Palawa Joko is as powerful as an elder dragon, far from it, but in this case he has been dealing with the minions of 2 elder dragons and that we know of he has survived just fine. Of course we do not have the full details, but Kralkatorrik would most likely have a very scarce amount of creatures to turn into minions within the Crystal Desert, so unless he has moved elsewhere (which is entirely possible) he won’t have much of an army with which to assault Joko.
The bone palace is very close to the ruins of Morah, a Place with alot of magic for Kralkie to eat, He flies there right next to Palawas palace, Maybe even branding everything in it’s way, Palawa, knows about The brand(somehow) and he knows how dangerous he is, even without a big army and Palawa fought Branded already, his troops could be corrupted aswell.
How would you be if Something, being able to Transform all of your army into enemies in 15 minutes, would live 10 minutes away from you?
I still don’t see it happening. Palawa Joko singlehandedly wiped out a human (or transformed) a human civilization. It’s not like the charr, not only did Adelbern bring destruction on his own city, but humans helped spark the charr’s revolution against the Flame Legion 250 years ago. Old hatred die hard, but people don’t forget when they’ve been aided. One of the priorities of the Order of Whispers is to make sure Palawa stays 6 feet under. Elonian refugees will not stand it. This alliance ain’t happening.
Also, alot of this is just speculation because all we know of Kralkie is that he’s blocking passage to Elona.
