The Largos and Orr.
Simin, High Priestess of Dwayna is also looks like a largos but these might be for reasons unrelated to lore. There were creatures in GW1 that shared similar models but were not considered to be related.
The model seems to have been scrapped as a largos, and re-used with minor modifications (specificaly to where/how the “wings” attach to the back) for the Statue of Dwayna and the High Priestess/temple Priestess. Don’t use that as much stalk for theorycrafting.
What could be used for theorycrafting, however, would be largos and Orrian naming styles and the fact Sayeh could read Orrian.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Yeah, there’s been a lot of people throwing that around, but in Malchor’s workshop you find a bunch of unfinished statues of Dwayna that look like the GW1 design. It really does look like a simple case of having scrapped the idea of Risen largos, but not wanting to waste the model.
As Konig says, it’s the language similarities that are more telling – that suggests that there’s a good chance the largos were in some sort of communication with Orr before the Cataclysm. This includes the possibility that the largos were originally human and transformed into an aquatic (sub)species under some unknown circumstance.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
It could just be the game creators wanting a “winged” risen appearance (also the statue) that resembles somewhat of an angel and holy. Who knows, it’s like the border between lore and mechanics.
