“Something stirs in the Sea of Sorrows… Unravel a mystery of monstrous proportions in The Lost Shores, a massive one-time world event that will change Tyria forever! "
So we got another once in a life time event happening soon thats ment to change Tyria forever. Can anyone speculate as to what is going to happen? I have’nt leveled far enough to get to this zone I don’t know if there something special with this particular zone.

What am thinking though is that is the 6th underwater dragon that drove the krait out from the bottom of the Unending Ocean, your thoughts?

There isn’t a 6th underwater dragon
That’s one of the original 5, the DSD
And can you link where you got that quote thing? I’d give better insight, but I’m interested as to where you got this info

Well it most likely something that you can only understand if you finish Act 1 of the Personal Story (Zhaitan Act). Most likely a Prelude to Act 2 and the next Elder Dragon we will face in Act 2.

After all with Act 1 over, story wise, there should be less undead in Tyria but this most likely leaves room for the other Elder Dragons to begin expanding their territory now.

So this says “a massive one-time world event” but I’m wondering if anyone has a clue as to the level on this content. I have a couple of level 60’s, but if it’s level 80 stuff, I either have to work my butt off to level up, or just not bother with it.

Ah, I see the post on the FB page. Reading…

Hmm…Based on the concept art, it’s probably gonna deal with Hylek (the big one has some Hylek architecture)
The area next to Sparkfly Fen will probably open, which could be the changing of Tyria forever
As for something stirs, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something to do with DSD. I wouldn’t go as far as to say we’ll already be seeing champions of it or anything, but we might get some minions finally, perhaps some more Largos/Quaggan npcs in that area too

Well if they follow GW1 way of 1 time event the content most likely will determined by what level range the area is.

Before Factions was officially released they had a one time event that changed the area around LA in GW1 and it even added a few new NPCs after the events ended. At that time the level range was for players who at least reached level 10 or higher (which is the half way point of GW1)

A lot of the Anet releases into the game will be related to the events of the Personal Story so if you plan to understand what is going on in these once in a life time events then you will need to finish the Personal Story.

Well it most likely something that you can only understand if you finish Act 1 of the Personal Story (Zhaitan Act).

I personally doubt that. GW2 has not shown itself to be big on linear story-telling. The stuff with Zhaitan is the stuff with Zhaitan; other stories (the charr/human truce, the Deep Sea Dragon and migrations away from it, the growth of other dragons’ power, etc.) are happening at the same time, in different places. If this is something like more information about the Deep Sea Dragon (likely!) then I would expect it to be a parallel story, not a continuation of the Zhaitan one.

I’m wondering if anyone has a clue as to the level on this content. I have a couple of level 60’s, but if it’s level 80 stuff, I either have to work my butt off to level up, or just not bother with it.

No information as of yet (this is really just a teaser!) but I would expect it to be determined by the area it’s in. ArenaNet are not big on gating content by level overly – yes it happens, but it’s not likely to be restricted only to 80s. Plus, as some who did the Mad King scavenger hunt can attest, if you’re 60 in a 70-80 area but stick with a group of players, you’ll probably be fine to participate anyway!

Well tbh i believe its gonna not be something that earthshatting but i believe with changing tyria forever it is meant that something in the still change maybe orr sinks because zhaitans power can no longer hold it above water but thats not higly likly as other players wont be able to go to orr anymore for story line etc so i think new maps will be added for probably a new story line or something reavealing about bubbles ( DSD ) It has arisen my interest ever since i saw it suprisingly this is the first forum post i saw

@ Curuniel

I’m not talking about continuing Zhaitan story since Act 1 is Zhaitan’s part of the the story.

I’m saying is that the event will continue the Personal Story as a Prelude to Act 2 of the Personal Story which introduces the next Elder Dragon we will face. If you have played GW1 then you will know how the storylines are set with time gaps between each Acts.

Gw1 story follows that Prophecies then several months after Prophecies comes Factions then 3 years later comes Nightfall and finally another 3 years later EoTN happens.

Act 2 and the events of Sea of Sorrow will takes place several months after Act 1 rather than it starting right after Act 1 story wise.

Right now GW2 has no Linear storyline because they have not yet started to expand on the storyline until now. Everything we see is only related to Act 1 or Side-stories of what is happening in the areas during Act 1.

i don’t think the DSD will show up yet. my original guess was some part of arah that was healed, but apparently it was confirmed to take place in islands on the sea of sorrows.

i think the one time event will be some cool thing that will let us access the new areas, but won’t necessarily have a major impact in lore.

EdwinLi – It’s possible, but I still reckon they’ll keep the stories kind of parallel but separate – much the way that you could play through events in Tyria, Cantha and Elona separately and in any order. Historically they happen at different times, but gameplay wise they quite deliberately didn’t require you to finish one to do the other.

It’s possible, even likely, that this will be a lead-in to the next dragon story, whether or not they paint that as ‘Act 2’ of the original personal story (which they might, I don’t know). Still, I wouldn’t bet on anything being a prerequisite for it. It’ll be interesting to see how they eventually figure in the Pact and other late story events though…

i think the one time event will be some cool thing that will let us access the new areas, but won’t necessarily have a major impact in lore.

Indeed, or rather, it may be very significant in lore but only the early signs of new major events (relating to another of the Elder Dragons or even the canonical fall of Zhaitan). At any rate I’m not expecting a new Elder Dragon until at least 6 months after launch, like the old GW1 expansion schedule.

Actually, I really don’t think it’ll involve the dragons quite too much. Looking at the territories that the current EDs lord over, Kralk’s over in Ascalon, Jormag’s up in the Shiverpeaks, Primordus is somewhere deep underground and the DSD’s probably in an area of water that’s much more open and expansive than the Sea of Sorrows (Unending Ocean perhaps?).

However, looking at where the Sea of Sorrows is in relation to some other things on the map, it just happens to be right outside of the Dominion of Winds… Maybe this is where the DoW is cracked open and the tengu are finally back in the world?

On the other hand, maybe Trahearne’s just going to be organizing a massive zombie-extermination party. A first step at permanently ridding the area of Zhaitan’s influence?

Nah, it’s probably just the hyleks celebrating Thanksgiving.

Actually I very much suspect it has to do with the DSD. If not, then something aquatic.

So far we have in LA:

- three new ships
- A new building with an asura gate next to it
- A number of beached whales
- A number of signs around the beachs warning people to keep back from the sea beasties.

Sounds like we are going to get a bunch of sea monsters attack the beaches of lions arch.

My suspects are the Krait or the DSD.

Haven’t seen the whales or the new building yet
Probably unrelated, since I didn’t really pay attention to the wildlife, but there’s a lot of crabs on the beaches. Most likely I only noticed them now

I just finished translating the sign at the waterfall under the jumping tower. The small scripts was awful to read, but I wanted to know what it says. And it was well worth it… kind of. I still do not know more, but it certainly made me laugh. Here is my transcription:
DANGER
ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK
Lion’s Arch authorities cannot be held responsible for missing / stolen / damaged
and/or devoured appendages, small children, dinghies, fruit baskets, skritt,
pumpkin flavored marshmallows, spoons, gooey hats, ascalonian salads, pocket
watches, earrings, in-laws, spirits of the wild, eyepatches, warmachines, seraph,
rhubarb pies, mystical artifacts of unquestionable power, mystical artifacts of
questionable power, seeing-eye squirrels and carp.

EDIT: The text seems to be the same on each sign, so all we have to go on as to what the warning refers to is the picture of a small man fleeing from a giant crab. Fun.

That why I said story wise. Unlike GW1, GW2 has a set story path. You most likely can play any personal story Act whenever you want like in GW1 but with GW2 having a set story path there will be parts you will not understand unless you go back and finish certain parts of past Acts.

A lot of Act 1 Personal Story was left unfinished and unanswered for the purpose of returning to that part of the story in the future Acts.

In the new building with the unfinished asura-gate next to it the is a “log-book” (possibly) that shows the map of tyria with a lot of blue arrows. That could be a lot of things: drifts in the sea, movement of creatures fleeing, asura calculations about some movements in the future, actual routs for shipping? Maybe someone have a clue or an informations that adds up to this.

Some speculation on the location of the Lost Shores update. I have highlighted, in orange, the area I believe to be the most likely location for expansion.
Image 1

The second image shows the green region from the first image up close. As you can see, a path from Sparkfly Fen already exists in-game, but is currently blocked off by a large rockslide.
Image 2

More interestingly, the third image shows, in the first image’s yellow region, a peculiar, linear formation that stands out in the area in question. Are these islands, or perhaps something else?

I’ve actually been beyond the blocked off area in Sparkfly. But currently it’s just a simple road leading to the end of the level. I assume that’s where they’ll attach the next explorable.

Also, I expect the Leviathan from the manifesto trailer to appear in the bay of Lion’s Arch. They are already setting up harpoons along the docks.

Something else I found interesting, Most of the asura gates seem to point to their destinations. I looked at my map and the new asura gate in Lion’s Arch seems to point towards the shore area east of Mount Maelstrom and the Crucible of Eternity. This would be really far from the Sea of Sorrows, but it’s definitely an interesting placement of the Gate.

it would be cool if we could push a meta event chain and score points for LA while the NPC’s try to score points for their team, then the results of all the servers will be counted and if the evil npc’s win the map is permanent contested/corrupted by them, otherwise LA has a new outpost, with ofc different events on the island (attacks of the evil things, etc)

you’re probably a high enough level to deal with whatever the sea of sorrows has to offer. I’ve done a grand total of two dungeons, one which we couldnt even complete because of a bug. I doubt we’ll have a boss instance like we did for the mad king. I can see it as being more of an influx of krait, quaggan and largos and dealing with their effect on the local hylek, and the debut of DSD’s minions in droves.

I know, I had just hoped to at least get 1 character thru the game before they started to add a lot of new content, not that I’m complaining. I’d prefer this to having all 5 characters will full world completion and everything and have no new content to play with.

My best guess though is perhaps this is something they had been working on with the main game, but it just wasn’t polished enough for the initial game release. So instead, they revamped to it be a reveal (bubbles I hope) and left it to that.
