Re: http://www.gamerzines.com/pc/arenanet.html
So my interpretation of the inscription:
Thump, Thump. Time to jump.
No idea. A guildie points out the Do Not Touch things are thumpers.
Wipe all resistance from your mind
Again, I am clueless. A guildie says “resistance against Scarlet, maybe?”
There’s a secret deep below to find
Primordus is coming!
Alternatively something interesting happening underground that isn’t Primordus involving the ley lines and jumping puzzles. This is equally as good.
If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen
Scarlet? In reference to her hallucination it means we are all more ignorant than her.
You’d wake up screaming from The Dream
In other words are we finally going to see the end of stories with Sylvari as the most important race bar none? I hope.
This next part will sting, but it brings me joy
We are likely going to get wiped by the upcoming content. I guess we can expect more Tequatl-level content (bring it on!).
Sometimes to change you must destroy
If this is at all meta it means that some of the bad stories this year will be retconned. Another theory could be Scarlet is a communist (destroying to change is one of the concepts of communism).
Maybe Scarlet is the good guy in some way. I do remember thinking maybe she was somehow a “sheep in wolf’s skin”, I may have posted about it.
A fire is rising you cannot contain
Yeah, Primordus confirmed.
Tyria will burn, while I remain.
100% Primordus. Scarlet has something that is going to protect her from the problems he presents and will likely be laughing in our face about it?
Overall I am pretty excited.

I believe this is the last thing they did similarly to this http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setView/news/gameId/473/showArticle/28341
Tick tock goes the clock
It’s almost time for time to stop
Something you all must understand
Your world is built on fog and sand
You’re out of time, your jig is done
It’s time for Scarlet to have her fun
She has some hard lessons to teach
To the people of Divinity’s Reach
So mark the date in permanent ink
The hour is later than you think
On the twentieth day she’ll start her games
And warm her hands over Kryta’s flames!
IF we look at these two separate documents together perhaps we’ll learn something.
This shows that both devices to be sent out deal with time. (both could bossibly have some relation to the clockheart, the boss at the end of TA twilight assault path)
Both of these involve fire, first kryta’s flames now the world is on fire.
The second article says “there’s a secret deep below to find”, also in the first article “Your world is built on fog and sand” (possibly talking about the mists) and if the world is built on something it must be below it possibly the secret is hidden in the mists…
I’m not going to get involved in the speculation, but for you intrepid souls who are, one more hint: the video in ANet’s story so far news post ends on a teaser shot: two inactive asura gates, one clearly damaged, against a smoky night sky, with a narration saying the worst is yet to come. Can’t make any guarantees, but it looks to me like the LA gate hub.
This shows that both devices to be sent out deal with time.
I completely forgot about the medium you freaking genius! I’m going to have to think about that for a bit.
Edit: Thanks Infamous, that is some food for thought.
And warm her hands over Kryta’s flames!
That may have originally have been premature and subtle reference to Primordus, or, the flames in the new one could refer to Kryta instead.
I think the secret hidden in the mists is Abbadon’s Mouth and their zergs .
Edit 2:

They look too close (although that might be artistic license to bring across a point). The ones in Coriolis Plaza look close enough and could fit the bill (plus they have been annoying me as non-functional gates).

I am very sceptical about Scarlets ties to Primordus. I think ArenaNet has really got a good plot the next four releases and I dont think it will end in Primordus. I admit there are ties to Primordus but there are more things that dont fit at all. If there are suddenly Destroyers showing up that would be really bad of the writers and I dont see them do something bad. I actually think Scarlet is trying to grow the thorn she saw in her dreams, that can spread over the whole world. The thorn might grow in the directions of the signals the probes send out. Also the “next part will sting” line is a bit out of context but this might explain it. I also thought right back to the part where Kasmeer was STUNG by a thorn in the Tower of Nightmares. The part where Scarlet says the world will burn is also ripped out of context. During the Queens Jubilee she said kind of the same and there she was just meaning big bombs. Burn is just a metaphore for lots of trouble or something like that I think.
Edit: I forgot to say. That part about the Dream is not just meant there as a word that rhymes. Her ties to hating the Dream are far more obvious than her ties to Primordus.

I’m a fan of this idea. Most theories going around right now (my own included) are not really accounting for the toxin that Scarlet has a hold of. Now, that toxin hasn’t really been the focus of the story, since it seemed like we destroyed all toxic-related facilities, but she still has access to it. If she’s going to use it, it seems extremely plausible to think that some root/thorn system underground is growing and spreading, and will finally ‘rise up’ in the upcoming content.
-snip-
Unfortunately, the Coriolis Plaza is completely surrounded by the rocky structures there, so it seems highly unlikely. I, too, would like to see those portals used soon!
I mentioned elsewhere that those portals might actually be in the Edge of the Mists map since it would likely have gates to the borderlands, etc. Part of the upcoming content could be happening there, as the ‘islands’ that she has been scouting may be the types of islands seen in the mists. It may be the case that they are introducing EotM as Scarlet’s base, and after we kill her it will become contested and that’s how it becomes a WvW zone.

There’s a secret deep below to find
Primordus is coming!
Alternatively something interesting happening underground that isn’t Primordus involving the ley lines and jumping puzzles. This is equally as good.
We’ve already got Scott mentioning months ago that Scarlet’s story isn’t tied to the dragons. Toss Primordial hopes out of your head.
It’s probably another underground Molten Alliance-made base of operations.
You’d wake up screaming from The Dream
In other words are we finally going to see the end of stories with Sylvari as the most important race bar none? I hope.
When Scarlet awoke from the machine, she made mention of freeing sylvari from the Dream of Dreams. This is likely a reference to that and what Scarlet’s goals are.
That’s hardly something that defines or is unique to communism…
You won’t see retconning. ArenaNet “hates” doing that – except when it comes to promoting the Living Story I guess, what with their blatant addition of five days for no reason other than to sync up two calendars (Mouvelian and Gregorian) that were never meant to be synced up.
Given the “Our Story So Far” video’s end with what looks like LA (I’m of that stance), I’m guessing that ArenaNet’s going to destroy Lion’s Arch or something else, just to have Scarlet (or post-Scarlet’s actions) rebuild it anew. It may alternatively relate to Scarlet’s ploys of separating sylvari from the Dream (if that is indeed her goal) – that is, to destroy and re….
And suddenly the Toxic Hybrid makes sense.
Scarlet wants to destroy the sylvari race, and recreate it in the same manner she created the Toxic Hybrid – if you observed the hybrid, you’d have noticed that it’s body design was the exact same as that of the sylvari, with two differences: it had “wings” and it was of krait shape rather than humanoid (well, and it evolved very fast though that may or may not be “different” – it wouldn’t have had a Dream of Dreams experience, like Malyck, and he supposedly crawled away from his pod before being injured and found by Wardens).
A fire is rising you cannot contain
Yeah, Primordus confirmed.
Tyria will burn, while I remain.
100% Primordus. Scarlet has something that is going to protect her from the problems he presents and will likely be laughing in our face about it?
Two words:
Molten Alliance.
And how Scarlet’s previous poem, so courtously posted by Infamous Darkness.3284, ends with the same manner: And warm her hands over Kryta’s flames!
Then again, the interview which stated “no Elder Dragons with Scarlet”.
Edit: the interview was with TowerTalk, I think this one. Edit2: Yes, that interview and it’s near the end (naturally). He basically says they have a dragon plot for every couple years, and between them we’ll experience the more ‘personal stories’ like Kasmeer, Marjory, and Scarlet as well as things linked to dragons but not them themselves like Dragon Bash (and I would imagine, Tequatl Rising – the interview being before TR).
(edited by Konig Des Todes.2086)
All previous dragon champions have had an obvious link to a dragon. With Scarlet, there is no link, she seems to be self motivated. I don’t believe she is a dragon champion. I recall the statements that there is no dragon involved in the Scarlet story, however I not sure what the exact statement was and I wonder if there may be some wiggle room for an unintended appearance of a dragon.
I would think that an event as large as what Anet is hinting at would get the attention of an elder dragon.
Tyria will burn, while I remain.
100% Primordus.
I doubt it, Remember her previous poem?
Tick tock goes the clock

If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen

This next part will sting, but it brings me joy
Sometimes to change you must destroy.
Change the Sylvari…?
Also, while checking out the Asura gates in LA I realized something – the only one who fits the view of the destroyed one we have been shown is the Gate leading to the Grove.
The others don’t line up or have parts of LA in their view.
The Tyria will burn part is just her craziness and chaos shenanigans.
I saw a WP video a while ago where he was talking about the possibility of 2 ’’cycles’’ the first one where the human gods come to tyria to spread magic, and the other where the elder dragons wake up to consume magic. What if we really shouldn’t kill the elder dragons, and that’s what scarlet saw? o_o
@ElysianEternity: Linking what’s “deep below” to her vision is an interesting thought. Not really sure what would have been seen then, though. Unless it does turn out the Pale Tree is a Mordremoth champion but that would just be terrible storytelling because it honestly would make no sense and would be oh-so-obviously done because people who don’t put effort behind researching the hypothesis want it so badly, probably just to play a badguy figure.
On the flip, with Scarlet knowing how to create a new kind of sylvari, the secret she knows being Malyck becomes ever more likely to me.
None of this, however, explains Scarlet’s ties to the Steam creatures.
On a side, whenever I see your username I think of An Elysian Tale game…
@RainbowSyrup: The gods didn’t create magic, all they did was hasten the return of magic to the world after the Seers slowed it down. And it was unrelated to the Elder Dragons as per Jeff Grubb and Arah explorable, the Six Gods did not know of the Elder Dragons – or at least they made no show of knowing, even when drawing power from one (Zhaitan).
It’s a lot of hype, so we’ll see how the substance is (this hasn’t worked for them in the past). The only thing I can think of is “yay more scarlet” and LA getting attacked (good thing we’ve never had to play through that before). Time shall tell.
@Konig Des Todes
You mean Elysian Tail? Heh. Nah, never played that one. Tho on the username side-note I keep spelling Konig as König and going back to correcting. :p
Tho for the love of God, I hope it’s not the dragon-champion theory. Though I’m not sure either what she could have seen. Feels like Anet didn’t leave us any clues to it at all for the sake of an ‘unpredictable’ reveal. There’s so much mystery about the Dream and why and how the Pale Tree links to the Mists. It has to be something better than “sURPRISE!!!!!!! WE’VE BEEN ALL DRAGON MINIONS FROM THE START -MAD GIGGLING”
But I don’t think it’s Malyck as character she knows of. I dare to say he himself isn’t “important enough” and that linking a such easily missed yet interesting character to the LS is way too farfetched considering the writing so far.
Tho maybe she’s seen the dreamless Pale Tree he originated from itself – which too would somewhat shatter the Pale Tree’s image of “deity-like entity and mother of all Sylvari” which she hated that much for other Sylvari and possibly make more wary of the tree.
Tho what do you think she could use as template for her ‘own’ hybrid-sylvari if she did burn down the tree and recreated them herself? A dragon? Herself?
Also another thought – could she possibly force the Pale Tree to change which in turn would alter the Sylvari and be a big slap to her concerning her deity-like position and the whole deal about destiny? (Underground base under the roots which have been said to ‘’reach into the mists?’’) Like, could the Pale Tree defend herself if the template (humans) was tampered with and changed to something else by an outer force?
Wow, okay lets see what’s all there and supposed to be explained in and link together in the final arc.

I think there is a strong possibility the Grove will be assaulted.

Thump, Thump.

Once you mentioned weapon, let me remind that theres an asura researcher in a camp at kessex hills thats says hes preparing some kind of weapon. how could that possibly be connected? is that a type of weapon that we will use to defeat scarlet? maybe?
As I see it:
Thump, Thump. Time to jump.
Seems obvious, the thumpers.
Wipe all resistance from your mind
Just a threat I think. We’ve been trying to resist Scarlet and her alliances for quite a while now. This hints at a final overwhelming attack.
There’s a secret deep below to find
Something from underground. But why is it a secret? So far Scarlet has built a lot of secret bases…. so I’m guessing she build something new, in secret.
If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen
Scarlet thinks she has seen things about the Sylvari I think. Or maybe she thinks she has seen something about the flow of magic.
You’d wake up screaming from The Dream
I think she wants to reveal something to the Sylvari. Maybe she even wants to liberate them, but because of a false beliefs. But it is also possible that she wants to liberate our preconceived notions about magic, and the Eternal Alchemy. Maybe magic does not work as we think, and she wants to crush those old ideas.
This next part will sting, but it brings me joy
Just general snarkyness.
Sometimes to change you must destroy
Everything up to this point has been about change. She changed the Krait to create the Toxic Hybrid, and changed Charr and Dredge to create the Molten Alliance. But now something must be destroyed, and it relates to the Sylvari it seems. Maybe an attack against the Pale Tree? But it is also possible that she wants to change magic, and change all of us. The leylines were mentioned for a reason I think.
A fire is rising you cannot contain
This could hint at Primordus, but also at something fiery she has been conjuring up in the depths. It may be something new, not related to the elder dragons.
Tyria will burn, while I remain.
This hints that she will strike at more than just one location. But this leaves me wondering what it is that needs to be destroyed, in order to create change. The Pale Tree would be a likely target if she wants to change the Sylvari, but none of the thumpers hint at her focusing on the west of Tyria. So that contradicts this again. Scarlet has struck out against Queen Jenna before, so maybe Kryta has been her goal all along. Or maybe she simply wants to liberate magic.
I don’t want to jump to any conclusions. But I think this may have nothing to do with the Sylvari, and nothing to do with Primordus. I think this may have something to do with magic as a whole.
(edited by Mad Queen Malafide.7512)
This shows that both devices to be sent out deal with time. (both could bossibly have some relation to the clockheart, the boss at the end of TA twilight assault path)
Both of these involve fire, first kryta’s flames now the world is on fire.
The second article says “there’s a secret deep below to find”, also in the first article “Your world is built on fog and sand” (possibly talking about the mists) and if the world is built on something it must be below it possibly the secret is hidden in the mists…
THE RETURN OF ABBADON!? He “died” but when others die they go to the mist, so why wouldn’t a fallen god go back to the mist? Scarlet is trying to call back Abbadon to reclaim his power because Scarlet believes that the god that the other gods couldn’t defeat combined can help the world fight against the Elder Dragons!?
I know I’m wrong, but I just had to have my fun. I would be very happy if Abbadon returned lol.
I think this may have something to do with magic as a whole.
There’s a secret deep below to find
We know that in 2-dimensions that the ley lines criss-cross over Tyria; we don’t know where they lie in the vertical/3rd dimension. Maybe this is a hint: they are underground.
Thump, Thump. Time to jump.
In that case the thumpers may actually be mining toward the ley lines? Upsetting something that powerful underground is likely cause some upheaval (“time to jump”).
A fire is rising you cannot contain
Maybe the thumpers have already reached the ley lines and the problems are beginning down there – a chain reaction has been set off and we cannot do anything about it.
Maybe she’s either trying to do something against the EDs by quite literally burning the magic (unlikely as Konig pointed out the dragons aren’t going to be in the story for a long time); or trying to do something about the bloodstones (considering that the bloodstone lore was recently retconned, maybe they are trying to tell a story explaining how the bloodstones are no longer important in order to “retcon the retcon”).
This shows that both devices to be sent out deal with time. (both could bossibly have some relation to the clockheart, the boss at the end of TA twilight assault path)
Both of these involve fire, first kryta’s flames now the world is on fire.

If Scarlet is trying to harness Abbadon’s power, then she is wasting her time. Kormir already has it. Scarlet needs to get the Kormir’s powers.
Hey!
Crazy idea time here…
If she is targeting the Grove and talks about secrets deep below, could it be possible that we are going to go and see the Pale Tree roots? Maybe the reason the Pale Tree has access to the dream is somehow tied to his roots : they might be sourcing in some strange lay line, or maybe they passed through an underground abandoned asura gate and are drinking from some other place in the mists?
Just throwing ideas around… I really don’t think anything about the poem…

Not a bad idea. I would explain why the Pale Tree is sentient too. Would be interesting to go through the Depths of Tyria (again) and visit the roots of the Pale Tree.
^^
One thing for sure : with the size of the Pale tree the roots should go for miles… They are maybe tickling some sleeping dragon ear underground.
^^
One thing for sure : with the size of the Pale tree the roots should go for miles… They are maybe tickling some sleeping dragon ear underground.
Maybe this is why we haven’t seen Mordremoth, trying to untangle itself from PT’s roots .
In all seriousness I might actually like Scarlet a tad more if she introduced the Depths again. Imagine those jumping puzzles!
The way I see it:
‘Thump, Thump.’ – Reference to the Do Not Touch “Thumpers”
‘Time to jump.’ – Not sure might not exactly have a certain meaning
‘Wipe all resistance from your mind’ – Could go one of two ways. Either she’s talking about us resisting her plans and fighting against her. Or maybe the sylvari resisting the nightmare.
‘There’s a secret deep below to find’ – At first I thought Primordus but the ED aren’t related to the LS according to others so I believe this has to do with the Molten Alliance. Or a new threat that is possibly greater than the ED
‘If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen’ – Reference to what she saw during the experiment.
‘You’d wake up screaming from The Dream’ – Also reference has to do with what she saw since after she got out (or during I can’t recall) the pale tree was telling her that she didn’t understand what she saw.
‘This next part will sting, but it brings me joy’ – Reference to Kasmeer (was it her) being stung at the end of the tower story. Could also be a reference to the Sylvari being cut off from the dream.
‘Sometimes to change you must destroy’ – She wants to destroy the Pale Tree to free the Sylvari race from the Dream of Dreams
‘A fire is rising you cannot contain’- I actually believe this might not be a reference to her schemes but something about what she saw hinting at a different threat than the Elder Dragons. Or she will attack us from underground using the Molten Alliance.
‘Tyria will burn, while I remain.’ – I think she believes that said threat will burn (wipe out) Tryia and she’s been using her experiments to try and find a way to overcome that. Or she’s just saying like in that last poem that she’ll cause chaos and Tyria will burn.
One point that came to my mind if we take the point that she’s the threat and not something else that’s bigger that she knows about. is that the “Do Not Touch” thumpers and the line “A fire is rising you cannot contain” might be pointing to something interesting. What if she’s using the Dredge to create tunnels throughout Tyria and the Thumpers (Do not touch pillars) are actually there for exit points from said tunnels for her Molten Alliance?
Folks should keep in mind with the poem that some things – like possibly the “time to jump” line – may just be put in because it rhymes.
“A fire is rising you can´t contain”
As someone mentioned, I think this has something to do with the thumpers/probes and leylines. Maybe she is charging them or tempering them in some way for them to go boom or something like that? Release too much magic at once at one place? The laylines may be indeed under ground or something (or do we know this for sure? either way, I always imagined them to be underground), so that may be the secret she knows? An result of the “magic explosion”? Tyria will burn.
I also agree that some lines don´t necessarily mean something and are there for the rhyme only.
an interesting Idea, if one of these probes is able to release a large amount of magic from the leylines could it possibly be used as bait to draw elder dragons or their minions in (either to draw them into a trap or have one next to an enemy town to have the forces of the dragon attack the area?)
“Thump thump, time to jump”
when i first saw that i thought that scarlet planned to use the do-not-touch towers to somehow trigger a massive scale earthquake, or similar world-shattering chain of events. if tyria as a planet has a similar structure to earth, the fire references may simply have to do with magma instead of primordus (especially since we’re told no dragons were harmed in the making of scarlet’s story)
(especially since we’re told no dragons were harmed in the making of scarlet’s story)
That’s a good thing too, because otherwise ArenaNet would be bombarded by responses from TETEDM (Tyrians for the Ethical Treatment of Elder Dragons and Minions)
‘This next part will sting, but it brings me joy’ – Reference to Kasmeer (was it her) being stung at the end of the tower story.
At the time I said to my guildies that Kasmeer was totally dead; not sure how I completely forgot about that. Good call.
In regards to Scarlet’s story not being tied to the dragons I question wether or not that is still true. We were told that the TR patch was indeed tied to the living story, but we’ve yet to see a connection at all in the story.
So my view on this poet is as followed:
Thump, Thump. Time to jump
My guess is that it has something to do with the eternal alchemy at play. Like with the infinity ball personal story where the ball connects to another “time” which made steam creatures spawn.
Wipe all resistance from your mind
Should have something to do with the first sentence. Maybe she wants us to see what she has seen through those probes? Very vague.
There’s a secret deep below to find
Heard a lot of people about what it could be. It could hint at primordus, but primordus isn’t that much of a secret, especially us. The clockwork poem was related to what would happen in divinity’s reach, and something might happen again in divinity’s reach. In The Dead End, Marjory and Kasmeer speak of danger for DR and Jenna. And when I think of something deep, the crown pavilion comes to mind, or especially about what happened to the place before the crown pavilion was built. The big hole that was there at launch of this game, was a big crater called the great collapse. One npc there before the crown pavilion update once said “That whole area’s been a mighty creepy since the first cracks appeared. Weird noises and such. My brother used to tease me about drakes in the sewers. I’m starting to think maybe he was right.”
If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen
Maybe she been able to see in the future?
You’d wake up screaming from The Dream
Don’t think you’d have to take this too literally regarding to the sylvari. “The Dream” is perhaps the somewhat peaceful world we live in today, but once we face that what she has faced or seen, our peace will be no more?
This next part will sting, but it brings me joy
I think from here she starts speaking of herself. If she enjoy’s that someone else gets stung, she wouldn’t say “but”, instead it would say “and” in that case. So now the question is what will sting her?
Sometimes to change you must destroy
Again probably she meant herself with change and destroy. She wants to change and thus she has to destroy something. The destruction will sting, but the change will bring her joy.
A fire is rising you cannot contain
This refers to something that we or the queen or other important key characters in this living story cannot “contain”. It means we can’t own or control this fire that’s been rising. Could predict primordus :P but that’s a big statement.
Tyria will burn, while I remain
Why would she remain? how is she so certain? The only thing that would explain this is the visions she saw from the eternal alchemy and depicts it as true.
In the end i got no clue :P
An interesting approach would be if everything said in the poem was said to scarlet by someone else, like primordus. But doubt this.
Also interesting is the mention of “war on our doorsteps for all of tyria”. War with whom? scarlet? dunno, maybe there’s more, and we’ll see one part of a race go into war with tyria? Or scarlet waging war with all the alliances formed against tyria? who knows.
What if Scarlet’s Toxic Hybrid experimentation was done because she wants to do the experiment on herself and was testing it first. Would make sense if the part “it will sting, but brings me joy” is referring to herself.
The Toxic Hybrid appears to be a newly born creature, rather than some mutated beast. So I don’t think it’d even be possible for Scarlet to turn herself into such.
My take on the Metronome? It’s just a generic threat made to rhyme like the last poem, where little actually made sense to the release of the Jubilee.
Personally, I think this all points to the bloodstones.
We know that there are 5 bloodstones. The Keystone, and then the 4 parts representative of the different kinds of magic currently. We even know generally where three of them are.
1…in the Shiverpeak Mountains, perhaps were we have recently seen a giant robot with killer high heels?
2….in the maguuma Jungle, perhaps were we have recently seen a giant multi headed worm?
3….in Abbaons Mouth….more on that soon.
So lets look at the poem:
Thump, Thump. Time to jump.
——-thump, thump is pretty clearly a reference to the do not touch objects. But what are they doing? Perhaps probing for those ley lines, maybee even sending shockwaves through them. If the ley lines connect the bloodstone pieces, it would explain how in Prophocies sacrificing the chosen on the one shard was able funnel power to the keystone in Abbadon’s Mouth. And if these thumpers are sending shockwave through, perhaps they will make the pieces “jump:” so that it will be easier to find them.
Wipe all resistance from your mind
——-clear you mind, perhaps so that, especially if you are a mesmer, you can sense the magical “jumping” being caused. Of course, if you are an engineer, you might need a device made with aetherized tech to monitor it.
There’s a secret deep below to find
—————5 secrets, actually…the bloodstones
If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen
———in her astral travel through the eternal alchemy she saw how outside forces, like the gods and the pale tree, were trying to control us. This was what she hated, and what drove her on past the points where she was told she should not go.
You’d wake up screaming from The Dream
———-Not just the Sylvari dream, but the dream of complacency that all races have been under, accepting the limitations of magic that the gods put upon us. She wants us to wake up screaming, not in fear, but in rage, to retake our full potentials.
This next part will sting, but it brings me joy
——-Now here is an interesting line. The next part will sting. the bloodstones need blood to activate them. A drop of King Doric’s blood was needed to split the stones….perhaps a drop of blood is needed to restore them. I do not know Kasmeer’s bloodline, but Queen Jenna is of the line of Queen Salma….not the Doric line, but the Salmaic line. Is perhaps Kasmeer of the Doric line? The joy, of course, comes in the form of the bloodstones being reunited.
Sometimes to change you must destroy
——-this is a bit confusing, but perhaps all magic must be made obsolete to be made stronger again…it must be destroyed in order for it to change back to the stronger form of unified magic it once was.
A fire is rising you cannot contain
——-A fire indeed. Not the fire of Primordius. The fire of Abbadon’s Mouth. This strong and powerful a working of magic will probably cause the Volcano to errupt again.
Tyria will burn, while I remain.
——-at the heart of the Volocono, perhaps somehow protected by the newly reforged bloodstone, Scarlet will be safe, as fire rains down all over the continent like a second Searing.
This is my idea for the meaning of the poem. As to why the Pale Tree said Scarlet didn’t understand…well, that I think is pretty obvious. She isn’t thinking of how much easier and stronger the Elder Dragons will become. Right now, they are eating relics that still hold the ancient magics. Current magic isn’t as strong and so not as satisfying. If the magic we wield against them is full strength again, it would seem possible that they could devour that magic much easier and become much fuller in the process.
I believe Scarlet thinks she is working to save the world, but in the end, she will realize she made a fatal mistake and is actually making things worse.
Just a though….
Gany
Nice theory there…the thing with this poem is, it could be fit to almost anything if you have enough imagination. That´s the problem with all prophecies and stuff. Take Nostradamus. It´s writen in so cryptic and general way, that if you try hard enough, you can fit it to almost any event.
As far as I can remember, the other poem´s meaning was basically “Scarlet smash”. There may be something, but yeah…Also, devs have stated that one of the theories out there is actually true, so let´s see about who´s
Tick tock goes the clock, but only for the doctor…
Prepare for little blue boxes appearing ingame…
Nah i am kidding.
This thing is mostly a promotion thingy as many have said before. I mean, how many times did we see anet marketing go overboard with their material, creating these mega awesome szenarios which ended up being nothing really special.

1…in the Shiverpeak Mountains, perhaps were we have recently seen a giant robot with killer high heels?
Nope. The marionette is in Lornar’s Pass – which is north of where Bloodstone Caves was (southern Sparkfly Swamp in GW1 though where this would be placed in Sparkly Fen is unclear)
2….in the maguuma Jungle, perhaps were we have recently seen a giant multi headed worm?
Nope. The new wurm is in Bloodtide Coast – very far from Bloodstone Fen.
I think that the idea that it has something to do with the Bloodstones is neat. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
I don’t really see anything that relates to the bloodstones. Nothing we’ve seen at least.
This next part will sting, but it brings me joy
Sometimes to change you must destroy
- it might be something she herself has to give up for somethign greater. maybe she transfers her mind into the mists or tries to ascend mortal means… i do not know. However she admits that it is a forced thing she is doing. Something drives her to change things
She’s going to somehow combine all the different technologies she’s gathered together, and she is going to fuse with them to turn herself into…
Scarlet Briar, the Steam Creature (Borg) Queen!
“Resistance is futile…. Now die, die, die, die, die!”
(maniacal cyber laugh)
I just wanted to add my two-cents worth to this thread. I was thinking about what the fire that is rising and cannot be contained might be. It is possible that the Mysterious Probes are surveying the land for a natural resource – fossil fuel. This comes in many forms. But one in particular may be of significance: Coal (seams). Coal fires can rage underground for extended periods and are extremely hard to contain.
Coal would also explain the Steam Creatures, who rely on it to survive and this may have been the way that Scarlet recruited them. They may have initially ported to Lornar’s Pass because it has a high-coal content as evidenced by the mining activities of the dredge in the local region.
The husks are significant in this because they appear to be modeled after various forms of decayed organic matter, particularly coniferous trees which are considered to be among the foremost producers of terpene. So then, the glowing orange center of husks represents either “amber” (i.e. solidified tree resin) or terpene or even just smoldering peat. This explains the presence of “Flame-touched” Husks, which are dead plant matter stored under pressure underground, possibly in contact with volcanic activity or simply so pressurized that they begin to smolder.
I don’t think it is said anywhere that the steam creatures rely on coal. In fact, despite their name we only know that they are biomechanical. We don’t even know if they are actually related to steam.
They are just as likely to be springs and gears (aka clockwork) hidden by plates and grates, powered by the still beating heart of their organic core.
By the wires in them, I’d guess circuitry, not clockwork, but iirc the Priory has dissected them (which is how we know about the organic bits). I would imagine they would have mentioned if they found coal, or any other recognizable power source.
i can only imagine the metronome and ‘thump thump’ symbolizes the probes.. which appear to be some sort of semiconductor..
the steam creatures are biomechanical, ‘otherworldly’ and noted to have an advanced metal.. it’s also stated that there is powerful ore beneath the shiverpeaks
