Sylvari lovers such as myself are probably miffed about the fact that there are 12 Firstborn sylvari, but three of them seem to have been written out of history. I’ve done so much searching through the wiki trying to find even a tiny hint about these three, but there is nothing. Which leads to my question:
Why?
Why would they (devs) give us the knowledge that there are 12 Firstborn, but only name nine of them? This is driving me crazy, and I’d rather have been told that they died like Riannoc rather than that they don’t exist.

They probably left the last three open for future stories of some sort. Personally, I like that there’s still a mystery as to what became of them, since four of the firstborn are just stuck as luminaries (in terms of the PS, non-existent as well)

Yeah I think it’s actually good that they’ve left three of them unnamed – and there is actually a really good reason for doing so.
The firstborn Sylvari are sort of on a bit of a pedestal, all of the known firstborn have pretty important positions. By leaving three unnamed it shows that the firstborn don’t HAVE to be these massively important prominent beings. For all we know the remaining three are just getting along with their lives or off exploring.

That being said I would not be surprised if they were brought up later conveniently having Wyld Hunt’s for whatever storyline we’re going to be sent off on next. (Also would not be surprised if one of the remaining three is Soundless).

True. The Firstborn are held so high up by the other sylvari (excluding the PCs) that a little conflict against that would make them seem less high and mighty, and for better IMO. Character flaws will help make them more realistic.
And I think that one of them is Soundless, actually. In the Q&A a couple devs did with a role-playing site they mentioned that the meditation method the Soundless use was created by a Firstborn, so I’m assuming that it’s one of the missing Firstborn.

Of course, that Firstborn may have changed her or his mind and abandoned their own teachings. That, I think, is the point of ANet leaving these things open- they can write these three to fit whatever demand they might need to in any not-yet-conceived plot.

In the meantime, I’ve just been treating them all like Dagonet- they have prestige, sure, but no importance, and so what they’re doing doesn’t matter.
