After thinking about how magic works in Tyria, I have developed a theory on how magic works in GW. I think magic is items pulled from the mists. The Mists are probably an infinite collection of dimensions or possibilities. When you perform magic, you pull objects from one possible dimensions into your own dimension. this theory is supported by the fact that the “Heart of the Mists” is a hub, meaning it is the base dimension in which all other possibilities are based off. All possibilities are based on the Heart of the Mists. Feel free to point out flaws in my theory or your theory in the comments.

Ok, came back with more proof of my theory. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Mists
If you read that you find there IS a multiverse in GW so my theory has some sway. Please post if you agree or disagree.

An addition to this theory can be viewed in the lore section named Leylines And Magic And The Mists (Oh My!)

(The Oh My! is a reference to the Wizard Of Oz)

“Before there were humans or dwarves, before there were even worlds or the stars that light the night sky, there was but one thing in the universe—the Mists. The Mists touch all things. They are what binds the universe together, past, present, and future. They are the source of all good and evil, of all matter and knowledge. It is said that all forms of life, no matter how simple or complex, can trace their origins back to this one place.”

and this…

“In the middle of The Mists is a spot where time moves neither forward nor back. It is a tear in the fabric of the cosmos, the point of perfect balance between all forces of the universe. This place is known as the Rift, and there is nothing to which it does not connect, nothing that cannot be reached from inside it. Those who have the know-how to travel across the universe through the Mists must pass through the Rift on their way to all other places. It is the center of all things.”

~Guild Wars Manuscripts

I believe you’re talking about the Rift.

Ya, maybe. The thing that matters is the infinite part of it. Revenant is living proof of this.

You’re right. It’s the Rift. It makes sense as the wiki states it as the center of the mists and as connected to all things, which supports my leyline theory. (if you read that) Sorry I didn’t play GW1. I started with 2 and am only LV 50

Well it could be the Mists because it does say they hold the universe together.
