So we know have details on the next release:

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/august-06-2013/

Now it looks interesting for several reasons but this bit really stuck out for me:

Mini Watchknight

Once you complete the Queen’s Jubilee meta achievement, you’ll receive a miniature Watchknight, modeled after the Queen’s new mechanical sentinels, to follow you into battle.

Clockwork soldiers? Not completely unbelievable if we look at what Uzolan did and the verious mechanical structures around kryta but still a suprise to me never the less. So were they comissioned by Jennah herself or the Ministry? How are they controlled?

I suspect one way or the other they are likely to play a big role in whatever twists we see play out. Still kind of cool to see a human spin on GW2 steampunk engineering.

Oh my Gods, the Asuran evil overlord will kill off the Queen with those!
Remember the Infinity Ball mission?! Those Steampunk creatures and the overlord talking about the “Battle at Divinity’s Reach”?

Confirmed, Jenna is dead. All hail Anise!

Elona, Land of the Golden Sun….and undead…and poison. The travel brochure lied okay?!

The only “toy” Queen Jenna needs/has is Logan!

(Take that however you will…) wink

Anyway, wasn’t Minister Beetlestone suppose to have a clockwork(ish) golem? I think I remember seeing concept art for it when the game launched. It looked nothing like the Asuran style of golems.

That golem was part of the Caudecus’s Manor story mode. Without spoiling too much, it was built by Uzolan. As sorta mentioned by Lutinz, these new ‘watchwork’ creatures are probably based on his designs.

Ya, now I remember him. For some reason, I keep picturing an Inquest golem when I try and remember that fight. Just goes to show you, how long it has been since I last did CM story, if my memory is that faulty.

I’m guessing that the human engineering is going the path of magical clockwork? The Charr already seems to be going the way of non-magical steam powered machines, and the Asura have their magitech. If the humans go the path of magical clockwork machines, it might make a good balance between the Asura and Charr extremes when it comes to mechanical innovation.

Kind of reminds me of the “Girl in the Fireplace” episode of Doctor Who. Let’s just hope that they don’t try and harvest our organs.

Who would continue Uzolan’s work? Also why would the queen accept anything remotely connected to him? I find it a little hard to imagine that they would allow his legacy to flourish next to the queen after what he try to do in CM. If this connection turns out to be true then screw being suspicious of Caudecus. Since Jennah seems more of a screw loose, by letting things go awry in her own kingdom.

Exactly, which brings the question as to why she is replacing them. Also, is she replacing the Shining Blade, or are they thus otherwise occupied with the clockwork sentinels being a temporary solution for her safety? If so, what are they doing then?

Uzolan might have been bad, but that doesn’t mean his machines are. They are just machines after all. They simply do what they are programed to do. Queen Jenna could have seen the potential in Uzolan’s golem, even if it did kidnap her, and she had the thing crated back to DR for study.

Plus, it’s happens in real life as well. A country gets ahold of a piece of technology from a rival country, they reverse engineer it, learn how it works, make modifications, then make it their own.

Pretty much what I was thinking – get someone else to figure out to make them and make their own. If they’re smart, the watchknights will be augmenting the Shining Blade rather than simply replacing them, possibly as prototypes for mass-production to start augmenting the Seraph as well.

(Mind you, if Jennah can afford watchknights, she should be able to increase the Seraph funding as well.)

It’s annoying they covered up the Great Collapse for this, as that was a place where the Shining Blade was snooping around suspiciously.

I suppose now they can say they were investigating the site for the new building.

Maybe under that colloseum is manufacture that will be producing watchknights so that why Shining Blades are snooping around
(or they just keep and eye on workers to not let the colloseum collapsed when queen will be in)

Does anyone know how the Personal Story fits with the Caudecus Manor story? Uzolan from http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Artist%27s_Workshop didn’t seem all that evil when I did that part of the story a while ago. Could the Uzolan from CM story mode be the ringmaster from the PS?

I haven’t done that PS arc, but from what I know…

It’s possible. Not enough to call, though. If I was ArenaNet, though, I’d make that prove to be something deeper in the storyline than we’ve gone so far.

(Regarding Uzolan… he doesn’t appear evil in CM either. His actions are intended to come as a surprise, and even then, it’s not clear whether he’s actually evil per se or just misguided.)

It’s interesting how humans are developing their own tech, with their own “personality” thrown to that (they already had some watchwork mechanism like the planetary, so they had experience with this). It seems like while Uzolan proved to be a traitor to the crown, it’s very possible that some of his tech was studied here.

It’s a good visual contrast to Charr steam tech and Asura magi-tech.
