Story telling speaking.

Rytlock never talk about what happens in the mist.

Why? Because he always knows who came back from the mist. If he told us about it, thd surprise of Lazarus thing would be a mess.

So…

The Human Gods went to The Mist when the left the world. Maybe, they even got lost in that place, so they cannot return to the world of the humans.

Suddenly, a Charr appears. He comes from Tyria, he is chasing a sword of flames. He knows the way back home…

The human gods follow him back to Tyria, returning to the world.

While I can’t say your specific scenario is the correct one, I do have the suspicion that there is some connection between Rytlock’s mysterious Mists adventure and the sudden appearance of Balthazar. Personally, I doubt Rytlock saw this specific event coming.

There has been enough information sprinkled around the game since HoT that makes this scenario very plausible. Rytlock was chasing Sohothin, a sword of Orrian origin and from a time when the gods were still on Tyria, more specifically, in Orr.

My guess is that the sword found its way to the gods in the Mists probably through some form of affinity to them or the gods sensed the sword’s presence in the Mists and they came to it curious why a sword from their time in Tyria is in the Mists now. Eventually Rytlock comes across the sword and therefore runs into the gods as well. What happened after that is what Rytlock has been hiding from us.

On a side note, from this point onwards, the future of Rytlock I’d like to see is what will end up happening with Logan (who btw was intended to get Magdaer). They will together cleanse Ascalon of their ghost problem, which can only be done when both Sohothin and Magdaer come together. It is possible we will see one final father-son reunion of Adelbern and Rurik who will finally come to terms with each other. This coming together will be symbolic on many levels. It will represent the coming together of the two swords, the king and the prince, and humans and charr.

yeah, i have been posting about this hipothesis.

My wishful thinking:

Here’s a lot of potential for Rytlock secret, and whoever “Balthazar” struggles, to have any connection, the story would be very interesting if you follow that line in the future, For some reason Balthazar and Rytlock do not want the Tyrians to know what’s going on in the Mists, although a new “apocalyptic plot” will be repetitive.

Before the “revelation” o chp. 5, we had only a faint evidence of Balthazar being Lazarus, it was when he eliminated the caudecus guards with fire at Bloodstone Fen.

My question is whether there is any other weak evidence about Rhytlock link. Maybe I’ll play some chapters again and look for something.

And speaking of wishful thinking I would love to see the Rhie priestess again. Since they are in this to reuse characters, she would be a good fit in the plot. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Priestess_Rhie

As far as I know it’s just the Mists thing, plus the fact that Rhytlock’s bandana has the same symbol of Deimos? who is a demon and subject of Abaddon, who has a feud with Balthazar?

lol

But the fact that he went into the mists being able to see, and came out blinded, and doesn’t seem to want to talk about it or his time in the mists is rather suspicious.

Partially wondering if the reason Rhytlock was called back to the Black Citadel is because they know something about his time in the Mists and how he got back, or potentially Balthazar. Doubtful, but I can see why they wouldn’t take matters lightly if they knew he was responsible for a god coming back to Tyria.

I’m hoping they’ll explain in the next episode, but this next episode still has so many things to tie up from Braham, to Rhytlock, to Balthazar, and whatever else.

I partially wonder, though unlikely for his character, if he made a deal with Balthazar to get his sword back and his brand new special abilities in hopes of ridding the ghosts, and Balthazar just wanted a way back into Tyria. Perhaps all of the gods imbued Rhytlock with the revenant abilities. Maybe Balthazar was the only one that secretly bad intentions.

As far as I know, nothing links Deimos to Abaddon. Yes, Deimos is a demon, but not all demons were allied with Abaddon in the first place (and even then, it was an alliance with, not being followers or subjects of Abaddon; much like the case of Dhuum and Menzies).

And Deimos has a symbol?

I also don’t think Rytlock is blind. When you create a revenant, there’s lore stated on the blindfold – basically “blinding oneself” via use of a blindfold gives revenants (and ritualists for that matter) a better capability of seeing ties to the Mists while in Tyria.

Anyways, it’s pretty clear that just like Season 2, Season 3 is just an “incomplete story”. Hell, even Heart of Thorns was. There hadn’t been a complete plot since Season 1.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I have a feeling this is going to severely bite them in the butt in the long term.

Playing GW2 for the story is like expecting plot in a porno. You’ll be left disappointed.

I think it already has. There was plenty of backlash over the lack of a “proper epilogue” to Heart of Thorns (something comparable to the party in Fort Trinity), mind you this kind of got drowned out by the backlash of the lack of overall content, but if they do that again

There wasn’t so much of a backlash over Season 2’s massively cliffhanger ending (though there was some), but I have seen some annoyance over not “getting the full story” when they bought Heart of Thorns (some of this is towards Season 1 being MIA, but some is also towards Season 2 being the first half of the Mordremoth arc that is bought separate while the Zhaitan arc is bundled in).

Yeah, I’m one of those people who wanted (and still wants) a proper epilogue for HoT or at the very least handle those unresolved stories in Current Events. I felt like they did a great job with Caladbolg and Trahearne and the Pale Tree in the past Current Event. They could do the same with Rytlock, Nightmare Court, and Zojja, just to name a few.

However, it feels like most everything has been tossed into a black hole in favor of shiny new plots. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m quickly reaching my breaking point with regards to them not completing the stories they started.

I agree. We need to close some story lines.
Malyck tree i am seeing you…

A song of ice and fire, in my opinion, is not a great example as how a MMORPG story should be told.

Zhaitan arc was a classic story. It ends.
But LS 1, 2 and 3 is like… lets open some plots an close in the future, when nobady remember it… Mister E, yes i am talking about you.
