Maybe it just transports matter. We know it doesn’t transport enery waves or else we would be able to see trough the other side. If this is the way it works it would also prevent the transfer of the kinetic energy and so wind from blowing through or heat being transfered. Come to think of it it would probably need to disasemble the matter on one side and reasemble an exact copy on the other side or else the lack okittenetic energy would render you very flat on the other side since your movement of walking trough would be stopped :/ hmmz this needs some more thought..

Lore wise, I believe one can see what’s on the other side of the gate, the mechanics just don’t show it. There’s a few instances in Edge of Destiny were the outgoing gate shows and image of what awaits on the receiving end. The malfunctioning gate in the dwarven ruins even flickered briefly between several points before it stabilized just long enough to connect to a gate somewhere on the plains west of Lion’s Arch.

Weird question. It’s like searching for a deeper meaning in a pizza delivery O.o After all,if we delve into tiny details we might as well be wondering why the characters never take toilet breaks, never get tired after running marathons over any amount of distance, wield swords of ice for hours w/o freezing their fingers off and don’t get splatted like a bug when a hugeass dragon that weighs tons, steps on them. It’s just basic game mechanics I suppose.

According to the lore, characters do take toilet breaks, do get tired after running too long, the swords of ice are magical, and they narrowly get out of the way of being stomped on (or their armour is magical enough to stop them from becoming an instant pancake).

But according to the lore, the gates DO exist, and are open for at least short periods – thus, one could expect some form or another of climatic effect across them. From the books, though, it seems as if they do serve as a barrier to teh weather – you don’t feel the weather on the other side until you’re there.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
