SPOILER FOR SYLVARI PERSONAL STORY

As we have all witnessed and confirmed that the new dragon that was disturbed by Scarlet’s shenanigans is indeed Mordremoth. Exact location of his rising is in suggested to be in Brisban Wildlands which is a theory uncontested at the moment.

I have also seen talk of a specific Sylvari who is buried under the personal story of Sylvari made characters. Malyck, who is discovered to not be of the Pale Tree that we all know as being associated with Ventari’s Tablet, is separate from the Dream which draws interesting speculation as to the effects the Pale Tree Mother has on its offspring and the possibility of difference from Tree to Tree.

My theory holds that Malyck will be a tie to the new content concerning Modremoth who is commonly associated with the element of nature and the color green, and the Pale Tree (or can we even call the others ‘Pale Trees?’) which Malyck is born from will be the center of the conflict.

One thing to note is that the Sylvari we know now are immune to the dragon’s corruption, or at least Zhaitan’s as far as I can tell. But other Trees do not have the Dream which could be serving as a buffer against corruption. Perhaps Malyck will have returned to a Tree that is thoroughly influenced by Modremoth. Seems like the only option to me considering a dragon needs an army, and Husks don’t go a far way.

His location is Magus Falls. It’s very, very obvious from the cutscene. The path goes through Tharmuava reactor, through a barren set of land, into a lush region. Magus Falls is that lush region.

There is no reason that the dragon in the jungle couldn’t corrupt humans or anything else it comes into contact with, plant or animal. The other dragons are able to corrupt a wide variety of plants and animals.

Which begs the question, what does a plant look like that’s been corrupted by a plant dragon. A dead body corrupted by Zhaitan is still a dead body after all (just more talkative and mobile).

If it is anything like Jormag’s corruption or Kralkatorrik’s corruption there will be some signs that show what ever is corrupted is different then the non-corrupted version.

I’m thinking of the tree in the movie poltergeist. I doubt that minions of the jungle dragon will look all flowery and nice.

I once had the idea about Mordi’s minions. What if the Fern stalkers from GW1 (The skeletal humanoidish plants) where actually ancient minions of his? Like, the starved/degraded versions.

If Sylvari are the minions, what if they were originally twisted humanoids, and then as time went on they slowly turned into those stalkers?

Plants with vibrant colors can easily be very deadly. If you’ve seen the movie Jamanji then you’d know. :P

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

If the Brisban wildlands are anything to go buy we should expect to see corrupted hyleck, skrit, spiders, raptors, wargs and moas. Corrupted skrit would be interesting.

Way to bring me back to my teen years.
Aah Robin Williams, you used to be such a great hobo and cross-dresser. Bless the 90’s.

Also Jumanji </nitpicking>

Presuming that Mordremoth will even corrupt animals and not just plants (though all ED can corrupt all things it seems, each do hold a certain preference for what/how they’ll corrupt).

We may only see (at first) corrupted Husks, Sylvan/Nightmare Hounds, and Mosshearts.

Also, skritt, not skrit. Don’t forget, should Mordremoth corrupt animals too, we’d get corrupted asura and bandits.

@Evans: You’re welcome. And yeah, thought I was mispelling.

For all we know they could be more earth-like than plant-like, since subject Alpha uses an earth based attack in CoE. It depends if Mordremoth is a Jungle dragon or more of a generic Nature dragon. Hypothetically, we could even see water based minions. I’d expect earth and water abilities as well.

Well he’s called the jungle dragon because of his location. Zhaitan was called the Orrian dragon, and Kralkatorrik the desert dragon for the same reasons.

This said, however, Jeff Grubb mentioned a list of attributes the ED have in an interview ones – mentioning, iirc, “fire, water, vegetation, and elements”.
