……That is when the Asura take over their rightful place as leaders of this world. The humans are greedy and self serving, the Charr are prideful and single minded, the silvari are…a side dish, the Norn play games, get drunk and fight each other.

When is the storline going to show the bright, true genius of the Asurans? To win this world we need only throw shiny baubles to the humans to satiate them, give kegs of beer and a few dice to the Norn to quiet them, create a more extensive cook book to take care of the silvari, and the Charr? We need only take a prized possesion from one faction and place it in another factions area and the vicious infighting will take care of itself.

And we Asurans, we sit back and wait……“cuddly pets indeed”

There is no worse feeling than that during an argument, you realize you are wrong.

You should play the asura, if you want to see asuran supremacy.

The Arcane Council is already working for asura supremacy. The level 20-30 asura storyline shows then explicitly. Even to the point where they’re censoring knowledge on the Elder Dragons consuming magic so that the asura can come out on top (somehow…).

And then there’s the Inquest, who’s goals are more or less the same thing except not all asura but just themselves.

The Arcane Council will probably be expanded upon in future content – directly or indirectly.

Dear ANet writers,

Hmmmm, I had always thought of the Arcane Council as a bunch of asura that got pushed into the political arena that are always looking for ways to get out of it by placing their mantle on someone else. This coming from Edge of Destiny. Of course, I only got my Asura through the lvl 20 storyline in the Beta’s, obviously, and so I haven’t had a chance to pick back up from there yet. I find that quite curious.

It seems to be a one-of-two-scenarios situation. Either they want to get out of the council so they can get back to their own experiments, or they’re power grubby asura who will willingly and actively plot and use just about whatever means necessary to obtain more power.

This is why the Arcane Council openly accepts the Inquest, and actively suppress movements that would harm their (the council and Inquest’s) advancements. This is mostly Flax’s actions, by the looks of things, but not solely Flax.

To get the best out of the Arcane Council’s darker side, go any college’s first mission (the contest – Dynamics and Synergetics shows it more), VAL-A Golem, and up to lvl 30 (any order choices). From my experiences – I haven’t done the weather converter storyline, though.

I think there’s an element that the Arcane Council has essentially two kinds of positions. There’s the positions with real power, and those asura that actually want to be in government compete for those positions.

And then there’s the positions that nobody wants, but someone has to do. From memory, for instance, the position that Snaff deflected onto a rival was basically being put in charge of waste disposal.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.

And then you all came to your senses and realized that the charr have you outgunned in every way conceivable.

Able and willing to work together on a large scale? Check. Asurans are too busy squabbling about who gets credit.
Physically more dominating? Check. Asurans are puny.
Technologically superior? Check. Asurans have golems, Charr have large tanks, airships (talk to the pilot of captain skyfire’s ship. All the airships are Charr designed and built. Those shield guns? Charr. Mortar cannons? Charr. Glitterguns? Probably charr. The only asuran thing on the ship was the laser that needed to be charged for ages, and got taken out like it was made of tissue paper.), and guns, oh so many guns. Flamethrowers too, oh and I guess mortars, and those motorcycle things. If it’s a warmachine, the charr have it.
subterfuge? There’s a gorram Ash legion dedicated to it. What do asurans have in the way of subterfuge or even diplomacy besides an arcane council whose very purpose is “we think we’re so much better than you and we’re going to try and prove it”

Frankly once the flame legion is either eradicated, or finally gets a tribune with half an inkling of sense the charr will actually be unstoppable.

You know what really makes my day?
When I get to jump clean over an Asura. Those big headed gnomes will be destroyed by their own intelligence.

They’ll start a fight they can’t end, or they’ll create something that they can’t control. The race is big headed and believe that they are far superior to all other races with no real leg to stand on.

Humans, are the oldest and most well rounded race. I can imagine a alliance between the Norn and Humans would spell the end for the brash Charr and the Asuran upstarts.

For the Charr lovers of war? Being so physically superior did not seem to help speed up the ages it took you to retake Ascalon.

I can also see the Sylvari going to war over someone chopping down a tree somewhere. I’m not sure the part those glorified pot plants have to play, but of all the races, their’s is the one to watch.

The norn are very idividualistic I couldn’t ever see them joinig in a unified way with another race.

Charr also appear to be the fastest race to reproduce of the playable races. They are also fighting on many fronts (Flame legion, Ascolonian ghosts, branded creatures, Ogres and humans-[rebels], possibly the grawl too I dont know about this one though)

But what about the skritt they already have one large city, what are the limits to their hive mind intellegence?

The human’s may be well rounded in many ways but it appears they are not unified either, bandits(white mantle), rebels, centaurs that were close to breaching divinities reach, humans have too entrenched already to start another war.

Flamethrowers too, oh and I guess mortars, and those motorcycle things. If it’s a warmachine, the charr have it.

The charr might say that, but according to Trahearne the airships are a combination of charr, human, and asura contributions. You can talk to an NPC in the Fort Trinity submarine pen that says that the submarines were based on a charr prototype (the Iron Barracuda) but took contributions from all races to really perfect them. I haven’t seen it myself, but I’m told there’s somewhere where you get a similar description of the Pact choppers.

I suspect it’s a common thread with the stuff we see being used by the Pact. A lot of it is based on charr work, but making them into viable war machines required collaboration.

Regarding story mode Arah, I’m pretty sure the shields on the turrets were actually asura work, and the purple beams in the cutscene were probably also asura. The glitterguns look like they might have been related to Ghostbore technology and thus likely charr, but like the submarines may have been improved on from the original design.

Even in the Asuran personal storyquests (Snaff Prize) you get to here things like “Behold: teleportation without a receiver! I honesty think the Sylvari pose a larger threat than the Asura. Despite their arrogance,The Asura can barely control their own machines, and they would never be able to keep them running right long enough to conquer the world. Meanwhile, the Sylvari are being produced by the Pale Tree and taking over positions of power at a scary rate (it’s only been 25 years, but they’re already one of Tyria’s most powerful and populous races). If the Pale Tree ever stops being so peaceful, we could have Tyria’s greatest war yet on our hands.

I actually have to agree with the Sylvari being a very real threat. Charr are my favorite race, but the Sylvari could easily outnumber any other species over the next few years. Not to mention the Sylvari can create turrets instantly out of the ground, something the Asura and Charr have to build with valuable resources.

Just how fast the Pale Tree is capable of producing sylvari, who knows. The first ‘crop’ was only twelve members, and it’s been steadily increasing since then, but hopefully the Tree knows when to dial it back.

And, of course, if the sylvari ever do turn hostile, the Pale Tree is their major weak point. It’s the focal point for both the Dream and making new sylvari, new sylvan, new everything. The sylvari cannot breed on their own.

As for turrets, Donut, I think that’s just a game mechanic, the way a charr can wave his hands and in a puff of smoke, a new building appears. They likely have to grow turrets using special speeds and wait for them to actually finish growing before they can be used. And then they would have the weaknesses of plants – needing food, sunlight, being rooted down, and such.

during one sylvari quest you have to hold Risen back while some chick prepares the turret seeds. that’s one of the two ways you get plant turrets in the game, the other being Take Root

the Pale Tree blossoms in waves and each new wave is clearly not as limited in numbers as the Firstborn were. new Sylvari (humanoid or canine) seem to be created constantly, though learning the exact rate would be nice
