Trahearne and his magic
Caladbolg (the greatsword he’s using) is actually more like an environmental weapon in that anyone can wield it- in fact in the sylvari personal story you use it for one mission. The skills on the sword are just similar to weapon skills available to the professions you listed. Trahearne’s profession is indeed a necromancer.
It´s easy, really. He is a necromanacer and at first, he uses necro skills and has a scepter. At one point, the Pale Tree gives him a greatsword forget from hers branches (or something like that…the sword has also a name, but I can´t spell it properly, so I´ll leave it to others). As the sword comes from the Pale Tree and all, it is a powerfull magical artifact and gives to his bearer unique powers (read: skills). If you play as sylvari, you end up weilding it yourself in some story missions and it has same skills as Trahearne uses
It’s just how Caladbolg works. It’s not really explained lore-wise but as a piece of the Pale Tree it just seems to have its own sort of magic that any wielder can tap into, separate from actual professions. It’s what allows so many different people (Trahearne, Riannoc, Waine, every Sylvari PC) to actually be able to use it even if they can’t use greatswords otherwise, and they all use the same skillset.

Thank you for the answers!
Now I found a reason to play sylvari, didn’t know they had such an interesting piece of lore.
So can someone please explain, why he uses skills from different professions?
Trehearne is a necromancer, but Caladbolg is a special weapon. These things you saw him do are all because of that sword. In the lvl 28 sylvari personal story step, you get to wield Caladbolg to kill Mazdak the Accursed, in which you can also use these skills.
Caladbolg is a legendary weapon made by the bark of the Pale Tree that is capable of exemplifying the wielders characteristic traits – both good and negative. It basically takes someone and makes them better at what they do, even if what they do is being uncertain or depressed or cowardice. It is also the only known weapon that is capable of killing a lich (liches cannot be killed under normal conditions; unlike in most fantasy settings, they don’t seem to have phylacteries; we only killed Khilbron because he was standing atop of a bloodstone linked to soul batteries which effectively ripped souls out of bodies to store), sending a burning sensation through undead when attacked.
Someone needs to take Caladbolg to Elona to kill Joko.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Someone needs to take Caladbolg to Elona to kill Joko.
Carefull now…or ANet will hear it and we will have Trahearne in Elona too!
Caladbolg has these skills on its skill bar…

I wish Trahearne would just stow the thing and use his necromancer skills in personal stories. Maybe he wouldn’t die so much.

I will steal that sword and fry the sapling crisp with lightnings and THEN I’ll go south and kill Joko.
Joko will just laugh and call it a butterfly rainbow stick. And then somehow use the sword’s appearance to criticize his minions ineptness.
Someone needs to take Caladbolg to Elona to kill Joko.
I’m not sure this is possible:
After being used to power the ritual to cleanse Orr, it’s left at the Source – Trahearne doesn’t wield it afterwards.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
