Trolls and vegetables
[ ex- Piken Square (EU), ex- Aurora Glade (EU) ]
Well, trolls gotta eat too… And no one said that trolls ate only meats
Sometimes it’s ettins or other large creatures, but I have noticed that vegetables that grow in patches – spinach, cabbage, pumpkins – are eerily well guarded by these folks.
It could also be that they stay close to those resources because they are excellent traps for careless adventurers (like me)
Also they get to attract pet bunnies. Ettins love bunnies.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
They probably have to explain how a cultivated patch of veggies can exist in the middle of the wilderness SOMEHOW.
Similar reason why you’ll find rich ore veins behind veteran or champion enemies – it’s meant to be the reward for killing (or bypassing) a non-event veteran/champion (sometimes there’s a chest instead).
The LA one is an added reward for the jumping puzzle, most likely.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
King, i know it´s because of that in general. What i´m asking why is it trolls and not any of the bazillion inelligent races there is.

Maybe because most people see trolls as pretty definitively evil. So theres no guilt harvesting all the troll’s food.
Going into a human field you can usually harvest only one or two nodes instead of the dozens that are probably there. In those cases I think it’s implied that the nodes are there, it just only displays the couple the farmer won’t miss or that you can get away with making off with.
There´s a charr cub whose whole strwaberry patch we can take, Asuran facility with potato field fully harvestable, bandit grapeyard up for grabs….

If I recall the charr cub says you can take what you want if you don’t tell anyone about it. Bandits are bandits, they deserve what they get.
As for the asura...uh... I blame science.
Not a perfect theory I guess.
Even if she said so, i still felt bad for taking all of the berries

But it’s not? As said, there’s ettins seen as such, and I recall there being a veteran skale and a veteran wurm guarding to other patches. Grawl too, in fact.

You´re misunderstanding.
I never said only trolls, nor that even most are guarded by trolls. Just that many are, and why specificaly trolls.
Trolls end puzzle, troll by the veggies, which is atleast a bit curious, could´ve been any other node aswell. Or no nodes like normal, i know there´s nodes in some.
Brisban wildlands, could´ve been nighmare courst, cavescutter, worms, even hyulek or bandits though that´s stretching it a bit, but still they put trolls there.
Bloodtide coast, could´ve been pirates, dredge, skritt, drake, spiders, but trolls it was.

I don’t think there’s a specific reason why it’s trolls. They probably just picked what was best for the area – and in the wilderness parts, grawl, trolls, and ettins are probably the best options for something that would cultivate vegetables.
