Hi!

I was wondering… Is Tyrian Explorers Society related to Durmand Priory? Are they “friend” or “rival” organizations? Or is Tyrian Explorers Society a branch of the Durmand Priory? Who are they?

I don’t think we know. Besides some guild merchants, I don’t believe we actually meet any of them. We only know what they tell us in their letters.

R.I.P., Old Man of Auld Red Wharf. Gone but never forgotten.

I don’t think they’re related, but they likely cover shared grounds. The Tyrian Explorers Society has 3 facets in GW2:

  • Map completion letters, which congratulate those who’ve done a lot of exploration
  • Guild Treks – their logo is on the image you have to find
  • Certain guild merchants

From what I gather, they are a guild all about mapping out the modern world. The Durmand Priory is about chronologing the history (past and modern) of the world. Nothing indicates they’re related, but it’d be surprising if they didn’t work together now and then, such as the Priory using TES maps for cross references.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
