I don’t think DR will get destroyed. For three reasons:

  1. Anet reworked LA because they didn’t like the design from a gameplay (hard to navigate) and aesthetic (too vulnerable looking) perspective. DR lacks both of these problems. So did The Grove, which didn’t get destroyed when attacked in Season 2. Which kind of goes into point 2…
  2. It’s a newbie area. Ever since Tower of Nightmares ended, Anet has stopped touching newbie areas (home cities and 1-15 zones) with LW events. They even removed the Toxic Spore events from Caledon and Queensdale, despite leaving them in Brisban, Gendarran, and Kessex. For the same reason, they would have to use “Old DR” for a ton of personal story steps – far more than LA ever did – and that’d be just confusing to new players (hell, showing up in a wooden, better looking LA is already confusing to players who enter chapter 4 storylines); and if they didn’t use “Old DR” then they’d end up having kids playing in burning rubble – again!
  3. It’s not the finale of the season. Doing something as major as destroying a major settlement is something usually saved for climaxes – not always the finale, but the major turning part of a storyline. And I don’t think we’ve hit that point with Episode 4. Hopefully we’re only at the halfway point. And as such, even if they had plans to destroy DR even partially, I doubt we’d see this happening until Episode 7 (the likely next time we get WM if we continue on the prediction of “each team deals with its own plot” split between WM, Primo, and Jormag).
Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Destroying DR also means re-designing Wintersday and other festivals. That would seem unlikely given how stretched they are with other things and how little festivals generally advance because of it.

A damaged DR seems likely, a destroyed DR I can’t see happening.

I really hope DR gets a full overhaul and a lot of fire. I simply can’t like the place.

Unlikely, for the reasons Konig already stated. Plus you’re rather alone in your sentiments, most like DR just fine.

DR is by far my favorite racial capital, followed second by Hoelbrak, then The Grove, Rata Sum and The Black Citadel last.

Ironically Greyhawk did the same when he said “most like DR just fine”.

Neither have anything other than gut feeling to back it up.

Yes, I see that he implies that. I just don’t see why. I don’t think I disregard other opinions (In this topic at least).

How was that the same? I made no statement beyond what does seem to be the popular opinion and nothing more (and this thread itself provides more than just “gut feeling” as back up). That’s a completely different statement than what Ardid replied with.

when you disregard something based on whether or not you like the answer there isn’t really a reason why

When you said “most people follow the human safestandarized way.” That’s no different than disregarding another’s opinion as insignificant because it doesn’t fit your own.

Topic said and done, move it to PM if you wish to continue please. Purpose of thread has been solved. DR is not destroyed.

Sorry Konig, I’m just trying to understand why are people accusing me of disregarding the opinion of others. I do not.

Human are the basic model in the game. They even are the standard in sPvP. Most things in the game are made to fit them. So they are the safest race to pick if you want to avoid any problem, from armor clipping to projectile height issues. Conceptually speaking, human culture in mmos is almost always the easiest to digest and accept by the fanbase, and GW2 is no exception. Also human are the larger PC population in the game as far as we know.

Although I personally prefer less popular alternatives, I recognize most people will prefer the human option. I still don’t see where I “disregard” anyone. Why saying that something is safe, standard and more popular is not respecting it? Do you people think that choosing the most common option is bad for some reason?

That being said, I still would have prefered they changed Divinity’s Reach in some way. I hope in the next episodes they at least use The Great Collapse under the Crown Pavillion for something action related. I know is not very probable, because the events now became permanent content, but still I would love it.

Maybe it was a poor choice of words, but it sounded to me like you meant that playing as a human means you forego all character depth and accept the bland grey model of an existential being.
I agree, humans are technologically the easiest because we are humans. But their cultures, personalities, and way to do things is just as diverse as those of the other races. Sure the ‘hero’ of the story is pretty generic, but that’s the case with all the races.
Most people follow the same human standardized way kind of sounds like you think there’s a book called: this is how humans look and act like, and you shouldn’t deviate from it. and that couldn’t be further from the truth, in fact, playing as a human may be less standardized actually because a player can better relate to their character (I’ve they think immersion is an important aspect of gaming)
